How important is the self propelling feature? I've never had it on a mower and wondering if I should wait on an ego mower with that option

Depends on your yard. If you have slopes then self propelled helps.

I have had the non propel version for the last 6 years. Only thing I wish I had done was to get the 7.5 ah version as it provides more oomph. With that said, my yard is very flat.

Generally it makes mowing moderately easier. If your a teenager, get whatever. If you are an average person with 1/4+ acre then I would highly consider self propelled.

It's definitely helpful. I originally bought a non self propelled Ego mower. Then found a deal for a self propelled one. Makes it so much easier!! All your essentially doing is steering the mower. I wouldn't go back.

I really like my self-propelled EGO, which did indeed come with a 7.5, but after 4.5 years of ownership, and light mowing for 3 of those, my 7.5 battery is on the fritz. I don't think I can find myself buying another battery-powered mower given the extensive cost of a new battery. I only use the mower to go around garden beds and my gas-powered zero turn for the rest.

It really is! I've had my EGO mower, trimmer and blower for about 4 years now and they're still going strong with no problems. I don't think I could ever go back to a gas mower again.

Very important if you have any type of slope. Hence the lack of the feature kills the deal for me.

As said by someone else, self-propelled helps a lot with any slopes in your yard, but is completely unnecessary on flat grounds. The mower is plenty light and the wheels roll easily that it's very easy to push mow.

I have a 7.5ah battery and a 5.0ah battery and both perform identical. The only difference is how long the batteries last.
