For what it's worth, /r/CannedSardines absolutely hates Beach Cliff sardines. If you're blending these in a pasta sauce, it's no big deal. But if you want to snack on them out of the can.... you might be disappointed.

It is a discussion group that is frequented by canned sardine enthusiasts. My quick survey of opinions there was that the only people who like Beach Cliff sardines are those who were forced to eat these out of childhood poverty and now enjoy them in adulthood for the nostalgia factor. Also, if memory serves, the link that I posted has a photo of the contents of a can, which looks like a can of mush rather than a can of discrete sardines.

Anyway, if you don't trust the many reviews in that subreddit or your own eyes looking at the posted photos, I recommend ordering some and seeing for yourself. They are very very inexpensive. Then, feel free to post your own review.

Enjoy!

Say no more, fam.

My feeling is that these guys are also the type of guys to bring their tarantula to a veterinary dermatologist. A viable trip, but…just so many questions.

Perhaps you're right. But now you got me curious: Who would be qualified to give an opinion on canned sardines? For wines, I often peruse Wine Spectator or Wine Enthusiast, but I was unfortunately unable to located a Canned Sardines Spectator. (Maybe a profitable business opportunity?? There must be at least 15 people who like canned sardines that much!!)

Mouth full of sardines? [blogspot.com]

I ate Beach Cliff for years. Good with ketchup and/or hot sauce.
If eating "unaltered" I default to King Oscar (@ 2.5 times the price.)

That was absolutely hilarious!

Anyway, King Oscar is only $0.53/oz at BJ's. Yeah, it's almost twice the cost of Beach Cliff, but I've worked hard in life, and at this point, I feel I'm worth the 53¢!

Edit: I just noticed that Wild Planet is also on sale for $0.30/oz right now. Probably will be ordering those momentarily.

I regularly buy Beach Cliff sardines from Walmart. In my experience, the ones from Canada (with the printing directly on the metal container) are firm, while the ones from Poland (with the paper label) are mushy.

I like spicy food but the Louisiana one makes me sweat. I still buy it but prefer the mustard sauce.

I love how they say "wild caught"... like there is a way to farm sardines. LOL
