do you have any sources that show the warranty on this drive is subpar? after all, it's the company that backs the warranty (micron, in this case), and not the specific product. the product page says 5 year warranty - is micron's 5 year warranty subpar compared to say, samsung's 5 year warranty?

this drive has 800tbw - it's not as high as some high end TLC drives for sure. but the vast majority of people will never hit that. SSD failure is usually due to heat, misuse, firmware issues, other electronic component failures, and not from hitting the TBW. TBW is based on the flash memory, and does not take these other factors into account. it's similar to how LED flashlights boast millions of hours but the flashlight itself breaks within a year due to poor components on the circuit board etc.

at first glance you sound as if you're trying to give a public announcement for our benefit, but you're making people unnecessarily question their purchase and trying to influence them to buy something more expensive (or additional) when it's not an absolute necessity.

unless you can share some hard statistics that this drive has a noticeably higher failure rate than more expensive, higher end drives, i think you're making a lot of exaggerated assumptions. you shouldn't tell people that they have to buy the best of the best (which is you're recommending) just to boot into windows.

This is a good deal. I got one at $225 recently and am pleased with the performance. Note that it is 1) gen3 2) QLC so once you use of the cache it is slower than a spinning drive 3) No SLC cache, but psuedo cache ~ 1/4 of unused space.

People, please do not buy this SSD unless you use it for game storage only. DO NOT use it for your main boot/windows drive.
These sticks have terrible warranty and are subpar to Kingston/Western Digital/Samsung sticks that give you 5 year warranty. These sticks are cheap because they dont have the same read/write life span as they above listed brands.
In terms this is referred to as TBW = Total Bytes Written. The more "allowed" the better the lifespan of your ssd. These sticks are likely to last 3x less than their counterparts. The price reflects that. You will wish you had listened to this advice when all of a sudden your Windows doesnt boot and you lost important files.

I have had SSD's since they came out and I have definitely noticed performance issues on the "cheap" ones I bought. Most SSD's will gave very little warning before they peace out and you will be left in the dust.

If youre looking for a boot/windows stick, get yourself a Samsung 970/980, Kingston 5000, WD 850X

It's been 10 years since I looked at computer tech. If i bought a laptop with say 500gb could i swap this in as long as both are m.2 drives?
Also have to check if the m.2 slot supports SATA or NVME.

Great drive. I put my whole steam library on it and load times are fantastic.

Not sure how you came up with the conclusion which is obviously false and lie. They also provided with 5 year warranty and backed by one of the most reputable NAND makers in the world. The quality of the crucial is very good and I have been using their memory sticks and SSD for over 10 years and never had a single issue. You are spreading completely false message that these 4TB SSD are likely to last 3x less, you are basically tarnishing the product with nonsense.

Ever since the floods in Thailand 20 years ago HD manufacturers have been gouging with their monopoly.

I guess everyone is using COVID to do the same with everything now.

Such clever price manipulation clearly is why humans have one person flying around in a private jet while others starve and live in tents on the street. Well played.
What an oddly tangential rant. Care to explain or do you just want to make vague complaints and demonizations?

Yeah, I've tried this code on a few things this week and nothing works for me. The promotional page says I was eligible, but oh well.

I think it was $249 before
ALWAYS wait. Why do you even ask? Always wait and prices on this stuff will always fall.

BestBuy will price match as well. I had some BB gift cards so it was worth the hassle (have to order, get chat support to issue a refund).
