Anyone have feedback on using this with a Tesla?

I've seen this drive (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0874XN4D8/) being recommended and would like to know if there are benefits of using one over the other.

I have it on my 2022 M3 LR, had to return the first one because it wasn't reading every now and then, second one has been fine.

I have been through 2 warranty claims with Samsung. One for the same T7 that you linked, and the other for the T7 Shield. While Samsung honored both warranty claims, I would point out that their warranty on these portable SSD drives is only 3 years, while the Sandisk Extreme NVMe Portable (gen 2) warranty is 5 years. I now regret buying the Samsung T7 for this reason.

Thank you both for these replies. They are really helpful!

Has anyone seen this item at Costco? Same price as Internet or is it cheaper at the warehouse? I stopped by this evening but did not find at my local warehouse.

Just had this discussion 1-2 days ago.

Love costco, but IMO you're better off building one yourself. You can get a good drive such as the WD SN770 on sale (just came off sale) for $60, an enclosure for $16-17, and repurpose the drive in a computer later if you want.

Total is $76 (with drive on sale), same company, probably the same nand, and more flexibility. These pre-made drives just don't make much sense anymore.

Yes, but this has IP55 water resistance and rated for big temp swings, and drops. Good for ppl that need storage in the field. But yeah, for average at home use, your setup is probably enough

Yup, can't dispute that it's got some great features.

I've used externals like this for many years now and haven't needed those specifics, but nice to have them if you do. I just built another with a 2TB WD SN850x and I've been surprised that it stays very cool (re: temp swings).

Tried the local Costco in LA and was shown that it was sold out. I'm interested to know pricing in store as well. I think it should be the same tho?

Is there any benefit for the NVMe version with Tesla? Can the USB interface even sustain those read/write speeds? Otherwise, save $20+ for the non-NVMe version:

There's a difference of 3 years vs 5 years warranty though

Small Tech items such as hard drives are almost always same price.
