cheap price, but it's also a pretty small/limited set as the largest bit in this set is only 1".

These sets are kinda silly. You wouldn't want to use these for woodworking, the cut will be very rough. You also want to be careful using these in most drills as they can burn out the motor; these types of bits are designed for stud drills which are high torque low rpm. Assuming you are using these for their intended purpose in the intended drill type, you're probably running holes for electrical and plumbing, in which case 3/4" and 1" are pretty much the only sizes you'll ever need. Also note, these are throw away once you hit a nail or any metal while drilling. A 10 pack of 3/4" would be more practical, instead of a bunch of sizes that you'll never need and have no application.

I use a variety of spade bit sizes for making bolt holes in 2x4s for assembling stands, benches, and other structures. They're also handy for counter sinking screw and bolt heads...but I guess that's just silly.

I bought the last Spyder spade drill bit deal and they're pretty good. I have no complaints. I have these, Bosch, and milwaukee. They all work just fine.

You are MUCH better off with a forstner bit for that application. These will be tear-out city for that use. For countersinking, use a.... countersink bit!

For many applications, a spade bit with some tear out is perfectly acceptable and a lot faster (and cheaper) than forstners. One can also drill from both sides to reduce tear out if that is a concern.

A countersink bit is fine for screws with sloped heads, but for screws and bolts that are flat a spade or forstner is required if you want to sink the head below the surface of the material.

He said he was building with 2x4's, which is not exactly fine woodworking. In this situation, I would also just use a spade bit. Cheap Forstner bits are also throw away once you hit a screw or nail.

Got a set last time and impressed with how fast it went through a 4x4 to run pex and electrical. Versatile no complaints. I don't think I'd use a forstner unless building furniture or doing some railing.

My local store had 30. You read that right. Three. Zero. None out for the folks. Guy had to get a ladder because they were in the electrical aisle up high in a box.

It's quite a large set for spade bits, you don't know shit.
