In Vietnam, there is Nha Trang and Da Nang, both are resort towns with major brand hotels, as well as lesser known brands. First world amenities at third world prices.

I know this is a very first world problem here, but just came back from Maldives 2 weeks ago. We stayed in an over water villa (at the W), and also had an opportunity to stay at a beach from villa as well. Having tried both, I think this really comes down to whether you want convenience or something scenic. Over water villa is cool and all, but you spend a lot of time walking back and forth to the main island area and beaches. The beach front villa gives you the convenience of walking out your door and right onto the beach. No need to lug around your gear - the beach is right there. Also, food and other amenities are usually on the main island so less walking to those as well.

$500pp/night isn't that bad, especially when it's all inclusive. On these islands, it doesn't take much to rack up a a $2-300 bill on just dinner alone without alcohol. You can't just walk down to Mc Donald's and grab a Big Mac when you're feeling hungry.

The Maldives definitely is one of the bucket list places for most people, and for good reason. The atolls there are spectacular, and the snorkeling and diving are second to none. Most of these resorts will likely not pack everyone in like sardines, so it'll still feel intimate and not crowded even at full capacity (aka: Waikiki as a comparison)

$500/day per person seems crazy high to me. That's probably $1000/day for most people.

There are just SO MANY alternatives that come in closer to half this cost or less.

EDIT: Lots of people have replied already to disagree. So I request that you don't also. Thanks.

Those alternatives are not Maldives. If your so called Alternative is Bora Bora, then yes.

I need to find a partner to do Asia tour lol - totally want to go to Japan and do 13-20 day trip across country. Maybe do 2-3 day stops in SK, Cambodia, Thailand, etc. and spend a month.

I'd try Conrad Bora Bora before this deal if you can still use credit card redemptions especially if you're playing 2 player (1x free night on 2x Hilton card on standard night + nearly 1x free night from signup bonus x2 points).

Have you considered Trenton, NJ or perhaps Baltimore, MD?

We went to Maldives on our Honeymoon in 2018. The flight was almost 28hrs to get to the destination. 8 hour lay over in Turkey. Take some Aspirin your legs will become swollen. Other than that very beautiful sealife. Nice people. Sad that their islands are being turned into resorts and they basicly become workers for the Tourist. Also, the waters have a LOT of Black tip Reefsharks. Very cool to swim with them. They're harmless if you don't approach them and very skiddish.

In general $500/night for all inclusive in Maldives of all places is Absolutely NOT expensive …RELATIVE to this destination with flight. Sure you could do cheaper in Hawaii but Bora Bora would be a more reasonable comp.

Now this deal is for beach villa and not over the water; this is a big minus. Didn't see Four Seasons or similar in description so would also have to research the hotel and food there. There's a lot of factors here that need clarifying but overall $500/night all inclusive in Maldives is not bad.

I've done Bora Bora, spent an exorbitant amount of money (for me) and had a great time, but would I do it again …NO, I'm a bit more frugal. But if you have the money and this is a bucket list trip or a honeymoon, why not.

Check out el nido in Phillipines. These overpriced spots like Maldives and Bora Bora aren't any better as far as beauty and are much more crowded. The service is exquisite but in places like El Nido you can literally rent private islands for cheap. The island hopping is by far better and the water temp is amazing. You'll get far more for your money out there but the service probably won't be as nice.
