This is not a bad deal, this is not for the store front locations but for their software much like taxact. if youre in the market for a new online filing option, this is a good deal here!

Not a good deal. Cheaper options out there and the prices here dont even include a state filing fees of $37.

Well, the difference here is that you can file online, and for some chance down the road you need in-store assistance you can do it. So the flexibility is not bad here.

People still pay to file taxes online even though there are multiple free options. Interesting.

The community wiki has some options. I personally use freetaxusa.com and it works for my needs.

Of course, the free ones don't cover some types of tax filing requirements or have income limits on the free option, OR... they may be free for federal, then charge a lot for state. Or the guided assistance may be limited or not support. Not every one has low income and a basic return. Sometimes it's worth to pay a few dollars when you're dealing with a large income and various tax forms that the average person doesn't deal with.

A lot of my comment was based on the context of the situation. Not a lot of very high earners with complicated taxes scanning Slickdeals looking for 50% off codes for online services...

I've used FreeTaxUsa for years, they have no income restriction on the free version and no problem handling my only slightly complicated taxes (and judging from all the stuff I skip that doesn't apply to me I'd like to see a list of what it isn't equipped to handle).

The reality is most people filing online have fairly basic returns otherwise they're already paying a pro to do it.

So that was kinda my point...if filing online not sure why this is a deal for anyone unless someone can explain how 50% off at Liberty offers something superior to free at FreeTaxUsa or IRS.gov (if within the income limit which at least half the country is).

I find it easier to work with a program installed on my computer than an online version, like HR block dlx $15 after credit

five free fed efile, so you can share it with four other people. State costs to efile with them, so I print state and mail it.

I refuse to support any of these companies that lobby to keep our tax system complicated when there is no reason for it to be that way other than to support them. F them!
