It's a subjective thing.
I prefer the AirPods 1&2 based upon their more minimal design.

I tried these AirPod 3's and the bulb that fits in your ear is larger and less comfortable.
They also take a bit more futzing to take out of case and put in, which is a detractor for how I like to use my AirPods (pop in and out real quick for podcasts)

The 3's sounded maybe a bit better … it overall I prefer Airpods 2

The housing could be revised again in 4th gen, but that's probably another year out. https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#AirPods
Yeah, fingers crossed it is a beneficial change, but based on my history, my current pair won't last till then lol they may also be ~$200 at launch. Or they could be this cheap 2 days in lol

My Pro 1 caused allergic reaction so can't use in-ear type
I was wondering if I was the only person with an allergic reaction to the tips. So annoying. Anyone have a solution to the allergic reaction? Thanks

I'm picking these up, I've been on 1-2nd gen airpods for a long time, and had wanted to try these out to see if they fit. I'll return if they don't.

I'm on my third pair of 1st/2nd gen and they fit me great so I'm worried these won't but I don't really have a succession plan as the 1st/2nd gen are inevitably phased out.
Why 3rd pair? Is this a short life span?

First pair (gen 1) batteries degraded after ~2 year but I used them a lot so it was probably 600+ cycles per bud. Second pair, gen 2s had one of the mics go out after a year or so which was pretty annoying. On my third pair which are 2nd gens.

My AirPods Pro needs to be repaired each time. I tried everything. It's been 2 years.

Agreed. Fully subjective.

For my ears, the Gen 2 AirPods are quite perfect. They are comfortable and don't fall out of my ears during workouts.

I tried the Gen 3 and were slightly less comfortable and while they stay in my ears during walking or normal use, they would always fall out during a workout which is kind of a dealbreaker.

It sucks because I liked the additional features for the Gen 3 (MagSafe case, better sound) but the comfort and fit of Gen 2 means I have to stay with them.

I'm happy with my gen 2 AirPods but to determine the best fit you've definitely gotta try them on.

I had mic issues with both my 1st gen and 2nd gen…I love AirPods but for that much money it shouldn't be having those kids of problems. I've been eyeing the 3rd gen for a while because I prefer that style over the pro silicon tips but if I have one more mic problem I'm done with AirPods altogether

That sucks, I've only had mic problems once so hopefully you have better luck next time. I've been trying to find an alternative for a long time but unfortunately haven't. My criteria is:
1) No silicone tips (biggest limitation to switching but my ears are weird)
2) fairly good mic quality (knocks out a lot of the really cheap options)
3) ability to mix down to mono for either ear and use one at a time
4) compact charging case, it lives in my pocket all the time and some cases are quite large
5) no weird glitchy buggy stuff on android, I've had some (like surface buds) have background hiss when not playing audio and play/pause randomly.

Some day I would love to have an alternative but overall, I've also been fairly happy with airpods.

Definitely AP2> even the pros for quick acess. Putting them away is a hassle.

I find they have more bass than the pods, but the pros have clearer highs/mids/subbass. Pros are still good, they don't fall out as easy for me.

Do they make dummy buds to try and fit test? Also, if you make an abundance of sebum and wet cerumen, can they be disinfected?

I've been using my AirPodsPro 2 with comply foam tips -- I much prefer that isolation it offers (and no silicone)

Site looks awfully scammy -- I'd be careful there

Have you tried getting a foam ear piece? It helps for some, instead of the silicon.
