This isn't a 4000 watt generator. It is 3000-3200 watts. Has only half the run time of the competition at 9 hours. Heavy for its class at 111 lbs dry.

For only $250 more delivered right now the whisper quiet 52 dB 3750 watt igen4500DF dual fuel can be had which is close to its all time low price. Huge difference in form factor.

Firman Inverters on Generator Bible: https://generatorbible.com/genera...s=inverter

igen4500 vs Firman:

224 cc engine vs 193 cc

Far longer run time, 18 hours vs 9 hours, 3.4 gal vs 1.8 gal tank.

Lighter and easier to maneuver, igen has a significantly better form factor, two top handles for easy lifting and tie down plus retracting aluminum handle and a sturdier case. Igen is more powerful fuel efficient quieter and it weighs less.

Firman is backed by COSTCO which may outweigh every advantage the igen4500 has if purchased without a service contract.
Just a heads up: This generator has a special regulator for propane use. It requires the battery in the generator to have a charge to operate. So if the unit is stored long enough that the battery dies, you can't use propane when you pull the generator out of storage. (When you possibly need it)

Then you can only use gasoline with the generator until you get the battery charged or replaced.
I got mine about a year ago and have only used it with propane and it's been good so far! Definitely would buy it again at the $600 in store price!

Looks like the ones under $600 do not have CO sensor, and are mostly refurbished?

Then the Costco one is a much better deal.

Living in the LA area, I may need one of these. They love to cut the power here.

It's currently $850 online. So wouldn't it be $650 in store?

$50 cheaper in store. So shipping cost is included in the price online.

Similar form factor with Firman. Both have two handles. Also, this model is not on the site you linked. The Champion is slightly lighter and a few decibel lower in noise (52 vs 58 at idle). May not worth the extra $250 (40% higher) if you just need it for emergency. Lastly, all generators are listed with running power and surge power. This one is 3200W/4000W.

Can't go wrong with propane. Runs cleaner and quieter than gas. I also do not have a garage, so I keep mine inside the house. Couldn't do that if I ran out off gas.
There is an igen2500 and an igen4500 in the living room as I write. Trust that the S.O. would not permit if there was the slightest odor. This even with the float bowls still full until the storms pass.

I have the: WEN GN875i 8750-Watt RV and Transfer-Switch-Ready 120V/240V Electric Start Open Frame Inverter Generator, CARB Compliant, that I bought for about $800. I think it is one of the best deals going if you want to power your whole house (with some limitations). They are $899 now but out of stock.

Power is off again as I type. Out more days that it's on. Honestly no but this is the third time in a week.

Yes, that 240 volt WEN is a true emergency back-up. I need 5500 honest watts @240V. Chinese watts laugh out loud

This FIRMAN is short a full 500 usable watts compared to igen4500 on gasoline ( 3200w vs 3700w) On propane FIRMAN is a mere 3000 watts. TWO igen2500 run in parallel are 4400 usable watts, 5k surge.

An open frame 240 inverter could be installed near our 250 gal propane tank where it would require remote control.

I'm not sure why you'd store propane in the house, but not gas. You'll notice that you never see filled propane tanks inside a store either - they're always kept outside because of risk of leaks. I don't think it's really a huge risk, but ideally you'd get a shed or something outside for storage.
