As somewhat an authority on VR (I own a VR company, have been awarded VR patents and others pending here and internationally, own a VR venue, and announcing our first in-house game after two+ years of development) I can tell you that this is the best valued headset for anything sim related. Space or cockpit of any kind. However, the part people forget is that the higher the resolution of the screen and the HMD, the more powerful of a GPU you need to have. Just because you buy a better quality headset doesn't mean you can run it at full quality. So try to be aware of that and maybe it's time to upgrade your graphics card. Also, this is inside out tracking which is pretty solid for what they have. However the controllers are the worst controllers that you can get for any headset on the market. Hands down, complete worst. While they will work, it will be the most uncomfortable and worst feeling experience versus the Vive wands or the valve knuckles. If you want to get the most out of VR here is what you need to do and it will still keep you well under $600. What you do is go on your facebook marketplace and look for a used Vive G1. This is the first generation black ones that have the dimples on the black headset. It will come with two wands and two lighthouses which are outside in laser tracking. This is the most solid and best feeling experience you can get in. VR. But don't pay more than 200 bucks for a used one and keep the helmet on standby if you ever want to use it for any specific reason. But you probably won't have one. What you're going for is everything else in the kit. This will allow you to not only play all modern games, but also older ones or ones that are designed to be used with the wands. Which is a sizable amount of PC VR games. Otherwise, pair it with a controller or , better yet, a racing wheel or HOTAS and you're going to be one happy camper. Same thing goes for those of you who already have an older headset sitting around. This is a good deal and a good reason to get back into virtual world. If you want the ultimate setup, pay for a set of Valve Index Controllers (aka the Knuckles) and you will have the ability to experience everything there possibly is for under $800 and still hundreds less than a newer headset which offer some neat an new tech but that doesn't matter if there isn't support for it and most developers are not taking full advantage of everything that's out there such as eye tracking and face tracking. Eventually we may get there, but right now it's developer to developer and there's not much of an incentive for any of us to specifically add it except for novelty at the moment, but that's being worked out.
Feel free to ask me any other questions.
Target[target.com] and Walmart[walmart.com] are also offering it for the same price ($299.99) with it being sold and shipped from the HP official store / HP direct.
Despite owning enough Quest 2's for the everyone in the family AND a Rift S AND a Quest 1 AND the OG PSVR, I am picking this Reverb G2 up for dedicated flight sim and driving sim use. The Quest 2 is great for wireless PCVR and standalone VR gaming via Link but does get a little heavy for long seated play. Also the compression over Link is fairly noticeable compared to the Rift S in driving games - but the Rift S colors and visuals are just not that great, which is a shame because it's a really comfortable headset.
I have heard such positive things about the Reverb G2, it's hard to pass up at this price. Will it maybe go to lower if / when HP exists the VR market, as is rumored? Hard to say. But $300 for a very good PCVR headset is very hard to pass up.

You will love it. I bought when it first came out. It replaced an Oculus headset, and even at my full purchase price I have no regrets. For racing sims such as Automobilista 2 and ACC it fantastic. For $300, it is a no brainer IMO if someone is in the market.

I own 20 headsets and 3 VR companies, personally would not recommend this. HP is pulling out of VR and this device will have zero support.
I am brand new to VR. By "support" you mean if there are (hardware) issues? Or will certain software features stop working? Like will any newer games that come out after HP pulls out not be playable using this headset?
I'd be all over this if it had 120Hz refresh rate for even smoother gameplay and visuals.
this is one of the higher resolution headsets. It has a really crisp image compared to the valve index. But won't be as adaptable as something like a quest 2, which can go wired, wireless, or whatever…
if you want a clear image with high resolution, this is your headset

Do you need to wear you prescription glasses to see clearly while gaming? Near sighted, meaning can't see far away. Have to take my glasses off to use my phone up close. I get you're not a doc. Just wondering what the usual experience is for someone who uses glasses.
It's a great quality headset with high specs but I'm worried about how long it will be supported by HP and the gaming companies for that matter. Steam has a headset and Meta has a headset so they can at any point just stop supporting other brand headsets... :/
I love my HP reverb g2 but I pretty much only use it for flight simulator and Google earth vr. I paid 330 bucks for it back in august
