Discover Card just announced April-June 2023 Cash Back categories. You can enroll now to begin saving NEXT month at Restaurants & Wholesale Clubs.
Pro tip: Costco.com accepts Discover, where you can buy Shop cards which can be spent in physical clubs where Discover isn't accepted. Also Restaurants commonly run Mother's/Father's Day gift card promos during Q2.
It was always necessary to enroll to earn, but this is the first year that I can remember where they didn't announce the full calendar far in advance.

Earn 5% Cashback Bonus at Restaurants and Wholesale Clubs, April 1 to-June 30, 2023, on up to $1,500 in purchases when you activate.

Yes, in fact that's why Costco SC typically preserve value better than other GC, because there is some added value in that you don't need to be a member to use them.
Costco's prices are lower than any regular store. Your membership will easily get offset by the savings and if you go with the executive for $120 a year you get 2% back.
Spend $6k a year/$500 per month, the membership is free. We spent that on groceries alone there. Additionally some heavy driving folks save over $120 year on gas saving alone. Now factor in what you saved on the price of the products as you will be saving alot.
Can't you do basic math?
Not to be a Costco acolyte but if you look at your spending holistically, $60 or $120 spent for a Costco membership could easily payback many-fold. They don't JUST sell food and housewares - they have a ton of other benefits as well. 2 I didn't think of:
Tires; with executive and the CC you'll get 4% back on tires (one set for my Pilot was nearly $1200 - about $120 cheaper than the next place, but I'll get about $48 in cash back for the purchase)
Travel; I shopped around for cruises, and Costco offers the same prices as any other place, including the cruise line itself, for the same itinerary. The difference is that Costco often offers bonuses - for example with the cruise I am on next week, 3 staterooms will get me 3x$140 in Shopcards as a bonus ($420), plus 5% total (2% executive and 3% CC) on the purchase itself. It will amount to nearly $800 in cash back that's over 10% of the cruise fare.
The important point to the above is I'm not going out of my way to buy these things at Costco just because I'm a member, I was going to buy them anyway and it just so happened Costco had some great cash back.
I've also looked into their Sunrun rebate, which is 10% of equipment back in Shopcard. That only applies for purchased systems, and only equipment on purchased systems (so like 1/3-1/2 of the install price). Sunrun wound up being more expensive than other options so I didn't choose them.
Auto - I've never used their auto buying program.
I bought mine on April 2 and it posted today (not pending), and it is showing no 5% bonus. It usually shows the 5% bonus even before the statement cycle closes, such as the grocery last quarter.
I am hoping I just need to wait a little bit since this just went from pending to posted this morning.

I'm about to use it for some Marcus Theater tickets. If I wasn't a zoo member and can use the AZA Reciprocal program, Sams has the next best deal for Legoland and Sealife.

My wife and I tend to save up our cashback to an unreasonable level. As in, 10+ years at a time and since we can pay our daycare on our Discover...it sadly adds up.
We've been watching a few beefier swing sets (4x4 posts all around, 4x6 swing beam, 5+ ft deck height, larger deck) for a couple of months now and one of them just went on sale at Sam's with $400 off. Seemed like the time to jump on it.
Backyard Discovery Set [samsclub.com]
$1999 MSRP
-$400 Instant Sale
-$800 of Walmart GCs ($760 redeemed for 5% off; there's a limit of 4 GCs per purchase)
-$43 of Discover cashback earned (5% of the remaining $866)
-$16 of third-party cashback earned (1% of the original $1599)
Total out of pocket: $740
This isn't for everyone, but it fit really well for us at this time.

Costco Online order been canceled when using Discover card… anyone had luck?
My orders went through and posted on Discover, but I don't see the 5% cashback pending yet.
