I don't Know what ESPP/RSU is but all the rest are covered. Premium and Deluxe do the same forms it is just the amount of guidance that you get that changes.

Not sure if this changed, but Block didn't seem to offer guidance (unlike TTax,which is Q&A style and has useful info, along the way). Any example of a guidance difference ?

Unless all you have is couple of W-2s, a d basic 1099s, don't be cheap, find a trustworthy tax accountant.

H&R Block representative is not a high bar to beat. I have done Form 1116 manually a few years back with Deluxe. It's a bit involved but can be done. Sold portion of fund that caused this to avoid doing it in future.

yeah i'm 100% abroad with no US income except for stocks. so don't see why would I even use their representative if their tax softare has the form?

Why should I pay an accountant hundreds maybe thousands of dollars to do something a $15 tax program will do?

To keep yourself under an insured umbrella.

Accountants are sneakier than the software - it's very likely they will save you more than they cost you, and if they break any rules on your behalf, it's their fault, and they have insurance to cover their errors if you sue them for damages.



I hate dealing with lawyers, and my taxes are simple, so I just follow the rules and buy the software.

So this is not true at all. When you sign your taxes you attest that they are correct. You will be the one paying the fine and going to jail. Sure you can then try to sue your accountant and recover under their E&O insurance but that does not and will not prevent you for being responsible.
