I found this at Costco.com after looking for a deal on, cheaper than other places. I know its been even $50 less in the past, but have not seen it go that low lately.

JuiceBox 40 Amp Electric Vehicle Charging Station with NEMA, 20-ft Cable, $549.99 after instant $50 dollar savings.

I had the previous version of this. Didn't last too long.

I just upgraded to this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0...asin_title

You can get the Emporia and the home energy monitoring for the same price as the juice box. But it doesn't have the unlimited Costco warranty. That's the only downside. It even has a longer cord and higher amps

Did it just stop charging? What was wrong with it? And how long before it stopped working?

Is there something about the Emporia that makes you think it won't have the same issues?

I still can't justify spending $500+ on a charger. My F-150 came with the ford mobile charger which is 32amps. Going up to 40amps would only cut about 90 minutes off my charge time.

Looks like Ford's got the 80 amp Charging Station Pro now. Cost $1300+ though.

Note the charging cable from Costco (20 ft) is shorter than the standard version (25 ft) found elsewhere. Not quite apples to apples if you're comparing and this is surely part of why it is less expensive.

I missed this the last time this sale came around, and I ended up returning the charger because I did actually need a slightly longer cord. Went with a cheaper Grizzle-E and love it so far - turns out I don't need the "smart" JuiceBox features at all.

With Ford I'm def go with the charge station pro & combine that with intelligent backup power.

Is your truck affected by the recent production pause related to Battery fire? After waiting almost two years on their redic resv list, it's with some relief I at least didn't get stung there, don't believe it's as limited as they may portray.

I walked into a dealership and got a 22 lariat standard range for msrp. The mobile charger is empty to 100% in 14 hours. The next 2 ford options both take 10 hours.

Intelligent backup is only on extended range. I didn't want to wait another year or two and spend the extra $10k for the battery. If we lose power then I plan to run extension cords from the truck to power some of the stuff in the house.

AFAIK the 22 models weren't affected.

Good to hear.

yea, that built in generator is handy enough. plus big con to intelligent backup is can't charge by solar when electric company is down. that would make its power utility indefinite.

For those of you who live in New Jersey, utility companies (PS&G, JCP&L) will give you $250 for installing this specific wall charger (for some reason, the Tesla charger does not qualify for the incentive).

https://www.firstenergycorp.com/c...-guide.pdf

This is perfect timing for me, as we just ordered a Tesla M3 ($4000 off on the base model, in NJ), and I had just ordered the charger on Amazon. I don't mind a shorter cord, the car will be parked literally 4 feet away from the wall charger anyway. I wish they had the hardwired version available as well. I will have to ask the electrician if he can hardwire this one. I don't need a 240v outlet in the garage for anything else, after all.

Take a look at your local utility company's website. I bought mine within the last 6 months for $250 from PSEG Long Island.

I believe the rebate is for up to $1500

It's up to $1500 towards installation costs (and materials, if you need to upgrade your panel) and $250 towards the charger (only the ones listed on their website).

$1500 is a rebate from PSE&G which applies as a bill credit. Once you submit the permit approval and other required docs, they will credit your account. You can request this as a check as well once it is applied to your account.

The $250 rebate off the charger is through Charge Up NJ, which you apply for separately.

There are only a couple chargers eligible for the $250 off. As for the PSE&G rebate, the charger has to be on their list and upload charging data. Which will also give you a discounted charging rate after 9pm.

Also, there is a known issue where some counties follow the new NEC of installing a GFCI breaker if you install a NEMA 14-50 outlet outdoors or in the garage. the issue is that since most chargers have built in Ground fault detection, there is some issue between that and the GFCI breaker which causes it to trip and eventually the charger will need to be replaced due to internal issues. EnelX which makes the juicebox is aware of this and they list that the charger be installed with a non GFCI breaker.

The latest app refresh made this charger so bad. It's barely functional. Read reviews on App Store. I'd stay away at the price. Mine was great for the past 5 years and now most of the smart features are useless or barely working.

Do you need the app for it to charge the vehicle? I'm not planning on using its smart features , I'll setup the charging schedule on the car. Could you elaborate on the issues and how they impact the functionality?
