I found this at Costco.com after looking for a deal on, cheaper than other places. I know its been even $50 less in the past, but have not seen it go that low lately.

Do you need the app for it to charge the vehicle? I'm not planning on using its smart features , I'll setup the charging schedule on the car. Could you elaborate on the issues and how they impact the functionality?
If you plan to use it as a dumb charger (no smart features) then it's great. No app needed to plug in and charge.

First, the app is terrible now. It's slow to load anything and makes for an overall frustrating experience. The app before was perfectly fine. Anything you have to do in it is annoying, like scheduled charging, starting or stopping charging via app. Charging stats are broken.

The website is also broken. Used to be able to export my charging stats and analyze them.

The crappy part is that it's not even a hardware issue. It was a mandatory app update and self inflicted wound.

If you're planning on using it as a dumb charger, there are several more cost-effective chargers available at lower price points with comparable or better quality. The only benefit I see here, if used as a dumb charger, is Costco warranty. Just $0.02 from a recent EV adopter that purchased and returned this item.

Thank you! As I said a few comments above, here in NJ this is one of the few chargers that qualifies for a $250 incentive from our power utility company. So in the end, it will cost me $350, with the Costco warranty. Not too shabby Wink

I still can't justify spending $500+ on a charger. My F-150 came with the ford mobile charger which is 32amps. Going up to 40amps would only cut about 90 minutes off my charge time.
What would happen if it was defective? I would have to wait to have it serviced to verify it was the charger and then it would be an indefinite period of time before a new charger would be sent to replace the defective one so I said screw it I'm going with a second backup charger so I can charge at home and not have to worry about a public charger.

I wouldn't bank on being able to return it years later especially when they refer to the manufacturer's warranty on the listing which I'm sure is 2 years at best

The latest app refresh made this charger so bad. It's barely functional. Read reviews on App Store. I'd stay away at the price. Mine was great for the past 5 years and now most of the smart features are useless or barely working.

Most EVs have the smart charging features on the car, who needs it on the enelx app? As long as it charges im not see any problems.

For those of you who live in New Jersey, utility companies (PS&G, JCP&L) will give you $250 for installing this specific wall charger (for some reason, the Tesla charger does not qualify for the incentive).

This is perfect timing for me, as we just ordered a Tesla M3 ($4000 off on the base model, in NJ), and I had just ordered the charger on Amazon. I don't mind a shorter cord, the car will be parked literally 4 feet away from the wall charger anyway. I wish they had the hardwired version available as well. I will have to ask the electrician if he can hardwire this one. I don't need a 240v outlet in the garage for anything else, after all.
Same for southern california - https://www.aqmd.gov/home/program...-incentive

I had it done when I installed my Tesla wall charger. Easy decision and process. Got the refund within a month.

I agree, most cars already come with a fairly robust charger. Not sure why would spend extra for just a little faster speed

I had the previous version of this. Didn't last too long.

I just upgraded to this:

You can get the Emporia and the home energy monitoring for the same price as the juice box. But it doesn't have the unlimited Costco warranty. That's the only downside. It even has a longer cord and higher amps
My Emporia died after 45 days 😢
