It could be that some vegetarians formerly ate meat and liked the taste and later went veggie and sometimes yearn for the taste.

I'm sorry but you don't seem to understand at all. Do you honestly think vegans and vegetarians give up meat because they don't like it? Many vegans especially are for the animals. We don't want them slaughtered, treated poorly, exploited, etc… so yeah meat substitutes are great options for us. I get that you eat food based on what tastes good to you but to us it's waaayyyy more than that.

Most vegetarians I know are vegetarian for ethical reasons, not because they dislike the taste of meat

I get it because my girlfriend is pescatarian and I'm indifferent to make my own meals other than an occasional steak or some smoked meat. I enjoy meat much more as I don't eat it every day.

Probably one of the number one things I get asked as a vegan. The answer is usually due to the fact that a lot of us didn't grow up vegan. Usually people become vegan because of animal suffering, environmental reasons, or both. Not because they don't like the taste of meat. Some of the bigger companies like impossible actually don't even market to vegans really. It's market is meat eaters thinking of eating less meat or wanting to become vegan/vegetarian. The CEO has even stated this. It's an environmental thing for him. I know you were placing a dig and not wanting an answer, but I wanted to give one anyways.

Fair points. I am actually interested in the responses. I wasn't trying to make a "dig" or insult anyone. Clearly my humor is largely poorly received, but it was just that, an attempt at humor. I'm definitely in the opposite side of vegans/vegetarians, but I'm totally good with each person's choice. My sister and brother are primarily vegan now, and they laughed at the statement about veggie flavored meat.

Regarding environmental concerns, this is why we buy beef locally raised by a small time rancher. His cattle are raised on land that's too rocky for farming, but it's perfect for cattle. He has 2 lakes/ponds and the cattle make and spread their own fertilizer and use natural means to "water" the greens they eat.

Thanks for sharing and having a good "conversation" without resorting to negativity.
