I am in market for a GoPro, not sure if I should pull the trigger. Would there be better deals?
primarily to shoot landscape videos, documenting motorcycle and car rides.

Looks like this can be used as webcam but Bestbuy rating is only 4.1 for this whereas higher for 9. But a year ago lot of people commented negatively about 9, here in a different thread.

Wondering what would people here recommend. I did not get a chance to follow gopro sales last Thanksgiving. Any insight would be great.

This is about as good of a price as you'll probably find without it being an instore clearance. I currently us 2 go pro hero 8s (for ambiance video fishing / hiking and such) a go pro hero 9 + media mod (for webcam not with the app but with a cam link) and a hero 11 as my main shooter for hiking.

Overall I find the 8/9 to be about the same, you will want to look into settings to stop the overheating.

The 10 imho was a waste as it was only slightly better then the 9 for video but even with changing settings was hard to get to not overheat.

i really like the 11 but that's because while i film 16:9 90% of the time the 4:3 is great for YouTube shorts and tiktok (I dont use it on tiktok). Also it has 10 bit color if that's important to you.

So what i am saying is if you have the money go for the 11(and there should be some discounts around thanksgiving for this), but this is a really good deal imho for an 8

I bought go pro 11 mini a month ago same exact price. Go pro 11 has better video stabilization. It really depends what you'll be using it for you might be able to get better info on youtube than anyone can explain here in a deals forum. but I have used in the car and the video stabilization has come a long way in the go pro 11 vs previous versions.

They previously had the HERO9 and Enduro battery and sub for $200. Any reason why this is preferable (eg significant feature(s) removed in HERO9)?

Just bought an open box fair off best buy for 150 with the 4 year accidental warranty for 30 bucks. Feels like it will do the job for me and if parts start failing the warranty should be good enough to get it fixed or get credit back. Excited to vlog some fishing and cooking this summer!

Fyi, the lens cover is irreplaceable on gopro8. They reverted this change on gopro9 and so on.

I personally never had to replace my lens cover on all of my gopros, but something to consider before pulling the trigger

It looks like its just included with this deal, but I recommend sucking it up and getting the subscription. It was kind of a PITA to upload, sync, ect without it. I couldn't even download to my computer with a USB. Literally had to pull the card every time. Plus there is value in the cloud storage as the files are large and you are going to max out any free online cloud options pretty quickly.

Yes, you need to cancel before it ends. If you remove the subscription, it ironically gets even more expensive. They are hoping to entice you to continue the subscription after 1 year. For brand new, this is the best deal compared to anywhere else. I think GoPro 8 is good for the average Joe. But if you are more of an adventure type person, then you may want to invest in the newer models.

Did anyone get subscription. I am curious is shipping fee only for $99 and how much does hero 8 battery cost.. it's showing 12.99 wasn't sure if you get the discount on top of that
