Doesn't looks like this is much of a deal... more like regular price since 2018... maybe save 50 cents though?

This looks like it's all plastic, including the gears, except for the blade part which is metal.

I have a set of these and they are definitely all-plastic except for the blade.

BUT, they're surprisingly sturdy and lightweight for being all-plastic items and I would definitely recommend them. There are a lot of different grades and types of plastic out there and whatever Fiskars decided to use for these works great. I've had these for 2 years of light use and the gears are big and chunky and haven't shown any wear. Handles are lightweight and easy to hold, nothing has cracked or broken or seems likely to do so.

The only negative is that the blade has gotten a bit dull over the past 2 years but I think that's to be expected. I haven't tried to sharpen it yet, planning on giving that a go when things thaw out in the spring and I need to do some pruning.

I have used these for about a year now. Great option if you want something lightweight. I prefer these over my larger loppers when I don't need to cut up something too big.

I've shopped pruners the last year because I cannot get parts anymore for a Sears one, and the blade cannot be sharpened anymore. I don't think the handles are plastic, but Fiskars make multiple loppers so I could be wrong. The sliding handles and gearing at the blade end are not going to work well in plastic. Admittedly, that doesn't always stop manufacturers from cheapening products in a short-sighted way

Fiskars quality isn't the best and might break over time, but they have a lifetime warranty which I've used and was quite painless. They will send replacement parts or a whole item depending on what breaks.

Thank you for the clarification, and repped. I will have to watch that, as my over five year old Fiskars Pruner with the rotating lower handle (one handed) is metal. I have a pretty strong grip, and I've had bad experience with plastic handles. They always seem to crack over time.

I have a set of their extendable pruners and they are top notch. Been using them for years.

These...plastic gears..nope. I'll pass on that.

I'vd used heavier and longer versions of Fiskars loppers with power gear and they served me well, staying sharp through many trimmings. In my opinion, this pair would be great for an elderly person to trim rose bushes, etc., not so much for tree limbs. The power gear truly multiplies the cutting action with much less effort. Thumbs up OP.

I saw them at my Costco, I think for $24 currently. I own a pair, pretty darn good for cheap.

Used these for my butterfly bushes this spring and it was perfect! The bushes get big enough I really have to reach inside to trim them and this was nice and light but long enough and didn't exhaust me as holding the heavier ones far out from my body for long periods would do.

How is this a deal strawman86. Price history shows normal price for years is $18.50. Last time it was higher than that was 2016 for $25. What kind of price research did you do?

I love mine, has been sturdy except for the blade which has a lot of nicks now, probably from my employees using it inappropriately. I'm not sure you can sharpen it too much since it works by sandwiching the branch between the blade and plastic - they should profile together perfectly.

As long as a branch fits in it, it will usually cut. I far prefer it to the bigger 20 something inch model we also have.
