This seems like a good deal, but I'm not well versed on these. Does anybody have any experience with this model?

5 thumbs up on the previous deal at $290.00 so I'm guessing this is pretty good at $260.00. I wonder if they are liquidating this model.

I got this rp-450c used in walnut from adorama @220 after tax and I think this thing is awesome except for the walnut color. I would have waited to get it at this price new if I knew it would drop this low cuz you get like a 5 year warranty buying new. I use the rp-450c as center and then rp-600 as l/r fronts and then jamo s803 as side or rear surrounds and svs pb-2000 sub all in my 12'x16' bedroom and it is intense if you turn the volume to reference levels. I couldn't imagine anyone needing a bigger/louder center speaker even if your room is larger. I mainly only used headphones before this so I'm not an audiophile expert on all speakers but it's a great speaker imo and really good at this price if you're looking into getting surround for movies.

Any reason why you are going with different bookshelf speakers for front L, C and surrounds ? Did you just keep adding to your setup ?

I have the Klipsch reference 5.1, linked below. Would this be a sensible upgrade to the center channel?

Edit: forgot to add link

Well ya I never had legit surround outside cheap all in one sets and I didnt want to spend loads of money in case I didnt like it so I bought the jamo s803 package first for $190 with s81 center, s803 fronts, s801 rears and the center was weak imo so I found the used rp-450c on adorama for $220 and swapped out the s81. Then I liked the rp-450c center so much cuz it sounded very substantial with clear sound and clean bass all in one so I got the used rp-600m next and its big enough sound for my bedroom. I wanted the rp280fa as fronts but its just too much money so I stopped upgrading once I had solid enough sound. I was worried the different sound signatures would sound weird due to mixing different brand speakers but I don't notice anything abnormal during movies or anything at all off putting. I would recommend anyone wanting to get a solid surround setup start with this as a center cuz its just so solid sounding and very cheap for the quality of sound you get. This price is great!

This is night and day from your current system and even a huge step up from klipschs standard reference line. Keep in mind that just upgrading the center channel alone is prob not a great idea and you would likely want to tone match the remaining speakers (or at very least the left and right front speakers)
I paid much more for this speak years ago and think it's great. Used in a dedicated home theater with rp280f, rp250s, rp160m and rpc 160c for atmos.
