This is a 5 speaker package, so you only need 5 channels.

I would suggest looking for a used receiver that has the features you need.
You can find really good, higher tier receivers for much less.
Some people have good luck at places like Goodwill also.
Thank you. Any specific features to look out in a receiver?

if you will connect it to 4k tv and devices, receiver must be able to handle 4k hdmi signal and have hdmi arc/earc output to tv. Bluetooth if desired. also subwoofer outputs: most receivers support only one sub. if you want more then get 5.2 or 7.2 receiver.

Yes. Go Klipsch and RP line. You can build decent Atmos setup that you will be happy with long term. You can find RP speaker that are much better quality individually- like the mains I went with RP-820F pair for $450. These were on sale last week.
I think those were just reference lines and not premier right? https://slickdeals.net/f/16469590-klipsch-r-820f-floor-standing-speaker-224-10-free-shipping

Depends on what you will connect to it, mer063 brought up a few that people commonly look for that they may need.

Since you are new I wouldn't worry about two subwoofer outputs.
You may be fine with one and even if find you do need another one later you can always split the signal.
Truth be told often those lower tier receivers that have two outputs aren't independent anyways, they are split internally.

I have the Costco version which includes pretty much the same but the main two giant speakers are 625FA which alone used to retail for 900 each. Those are Atmos. I then bought a similar subwoofer from Costco for like 200-250. So the package you are listing here is right around that range minus the natural Costco discount. For 1300 I don't think your linked item is a terrible deal. Keep in line all that you will need a good receiver. Costco has some good ones.
Good to know about Costco. I'm looking for a 5.1 setup. Kicking myself I didn't jump on the 625FA 5.1 set. When it was posted here back in Jan for around $900.

You are correct. The closest RP would be RP-8000 series, I could not justify going the $900 a speaker at $1800. If cost wasn't an option I would I loved the RP-8000f ii, because of the adapter for the Atmos setup. But I use two pair of Klipsch RP-500SA Dolby Atmos Surround Sound Speakers that I use as front and rear height speakers.

I use a Denon 4700H received and all channels with a external two channel amp (this powers by rear height channel).

My goal was immersive dynamic surround sound. So used the preferred Dolby speaker placement, and a mixture of r/RP Klipsch speakers and subwoofer when they would drop to their lowest price points.

So if you go all Klipsch RP it will get pricy, so I went with a mixture of R/RP maximizing the channels and using the preferred placement.

I did not know that, but I guess you may be right.
I am also new to all this, so just finding out what I need.
I found out that some better subs have output to another sub, for daisy chaining them, so even 5.1 will work with those.
Looking for good budget floor speakers at this time, preferably under 400-500$ for 2.

Look at the brand Fluance, they have a nice Floorstanding speaker set for around $500 called their "Reference" series, it's their mid-tier product line. Can buy direct online or through Amazon. Build quality wise I'd rate Fluance Reference equal to Klipsch's basic Reference line. The reason to go with the Fluance "Reference" towers is they have a downward firing driver for extra bass slap when compared to the towers in this deal. Though, if you also need a matching center channel for 3.1 or greater setup, I'd step up to the Fluance "Signature Series" center.

Yes unfortunately those days are long gone.

One thing you can do is go to BB and listen to what they have.
I would take content you know very well and preferably with some lower bass & female vocals.

It will give you an idea of what sound signature you prefer.
