Did a search on Google shopping for prices. I was briefly excited to see a refurbished unit from "Acme Tools" for $50. Seemed too good to be true and upon further examination it looks like it's another site spoofing the Acme Tools names.

Acmetoolsshop. com (as opposed to acmetools.com which is legit here) registered two weeks ago, with mostly redacted information, and lots of too good to be true prices. Throwing it out there just to warn anybody else. Sad that Google allows such blatant scams in their shopping results.
It's so cute.
I have had one of these for a couple years. Got it for less than $150 from Home Depot on clearance. I use it alot more than I expected, I'd highly recommend.

Yep, this is one handy tool for those quick cuts. A $125 price would be the clincher. Maybe BF? For now, the Sawzall that I got works for my current pruning tasks.
I feel the same way... I have the super sawzall and that thing is a beat. I use it to cut roots in the ground and have been using it to prune our existing trees. I do want something beefier to eventually take down a couple larger trees in our yard (they're probably at 4-6" max thickness for the trunks so nothing huge) but I'm not in a huge rush. I really need to take a break on buying Milwaukee tools too lol.

Reciprocating saws have a much narrower blade though, so generate less heat and less saw dust while cutting the same limb, and require less battery life to boot.
With a reciprocating saw, the sawdust isn't ejected nearly as well and all the heat is concentrated on a small blade section which dulls it faster. Sure it gets the job done, this just gets it done better.

Photo appears to be the M18 version. While I have several of the M12 tools, I haven't invested in the larger capacity batteries for those. My main BO tools are the M18 lineup with a number of the larger batteries (that I also use in my older De-Walt 18v tools w/adapter). Sadly the M18 version of this is almost 2x this model.

While the M18 definitely has more power, from what I've looked into (I ended up pulling the trigger on this M12 version), it's also bigger & a good deal heavier; something to consider if you ever intend to climb a tree to limb with one of these, or may need to hold it above chest height for long.

The M12 version looks like it does about as good as any saw this size/weight can with anything under 5", and can be stretched up to 10"... which means it's a great gap filler between pruning loppers & a full-fledged chainsaw (be that gas, or also battery-powered).

You have a good point. Being I only have several (4?) 1.5 ah m12 batteries I'm curious about how long these will last on light work. I gave my 18" gas powered chain saw to a relative because I have little need for it and can always borrow it back if needed. As you just ordered this you probably won't be able to comment on the amount of work these small batteries might last and I'm hoping someone will be able to chime in. I'm guessing that a 4ah would be best, but then again I hate to spend the extra money for one (or more) of them with all of M18 HO batteries that I use regularly. Any comments from actual users would be most welcome. I'll only use this for fallen limbs and bushes/brush, so I'm on the fence. As for climbing, that isn't going to happen for this old man Wink

You're right, this thing probably wouldn't run great on the small 1.5AH batteries (neither in runtime nor power). Similar high demand M12 tools can often end up underpowered with smaller batteries - a good example of this would be the M12 Fuel circular saw.

I'm in the opposite boat - I've got mostly M12 batteries (8+, basically at least one of each capacity: 6AH, 5AH, 4AH, and 2-3 of the smaller 1.5-2.5AH ones)... but only 1x 9AH for my M18 string trimmer+blower.

Project Farm's video that covered this and similar mini chainsaws (youtube link elsewhere in this thread) really kind of sold me on this one.
