Yes there is a price premium, but for some people it is worth it. I have had three Apple laptops and all have lasted 5+ years without any issues. 2011 laptop working perfectly still. Battery degrades over time as expected, but overall still much better than a windows laptop in my opinion.

What's your use case? If it's rather basic computer tasks/internet usage you can get away with the MacBook Air for less than half the price as long as the 13 inch screen isn't a deal breaker.
