Is this a good price for what it is? Would this be good for a high school freshmen, basic use?
The only requirements are touch screen and 14" with good resolution. Not familiar with Ryzen processors and any drawbacks.

Decent not even hdmi 2 you can get something better

What's the point hdmi 1.4 wasn't that a decade ago
It's a budget laptop. HDMI 1.4 is absolutely fine for office / work use cases. Nobody's buying this laptop to play games at 165hz and/or 4k resolution. Therefore they don't need the extra bandwidth that HDMI 2.1 provides. They'd never even notice the difference.

Comments like these add nothing to the conversation and are frankly just completely ignorant of the purpose of the product being sold here.

Not if you want to pay the same price.

the integrated graphics don't use 70 % of the bandwidth of 1.4 so how 2.1 would make sense at all ???this chip cant even provide more than 120 hz on an external display so 1.4 is fine.LMAO

not an reason not to buy it because of 1.4

i have the eariler version of this laptop, 4500u instead of 5500u, mine is a workhorse, i used to it almost everyday for work and personal stuff for 2+ years, battery is at 80%. but i paid $600 on amazon and upgraded the SSD to 2TB later.

i would say the wait for the price to get maybe $300-$400 range to worth it awhile.

it's a fast machine, but battery doesn't last vs the intel 12th gen i5,

Acer had the 12th gen i5 1240p for $400-$450, so this needs to be below 12th gen Intel.

i also have the Acer 12th gen i5, it'll last 5 hour easy, i fall asleep watching netflix, after waking up 2 hours later, netlix is still playing with 40% battery life. Lenovo will only last you 2-3 hours.

also the speaker is not loud as the acer

Those in the know, do you think this would fit the bill for an incoming high school freshman?
Like another commenter here said, only real requirement. other than adequate storage for school apps to be installed is that the laptop screen be touchscreen.

It's a good deal if it wasn't for the flex series having a reputation of broken hinge issues on the Flex and IdeaPad series that Lenovo will not cover under warranty. Google it and it will probably scare you away from these series.

SuperSlickZ,
Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention. I was doing a bunch of searches on review on the overall laptop but once I put that in the search, all these articles and you tubes came up on the subject. I don't see this surviving with a high schooler.

Look up Lenovo class action lawsuit. Convertibles r more complicated, $ so Flex is cheaper line, must cut corners somewhere. 250 nit or less screen, cheaper construction. Save ur $, buy a quality laptop on sale.
