Newer 2022 m2 version has gone on sale several times already for 1749. Why not just add 200 and spring for that one? Is it not much better or something?

Check out the M2 write/read speed issues with 512 gb ssd. You would have to bump up to 1tb gb ssd to avoid issues.

There is no issue unless you're buying a machine to run benchmarks. Real world speed is unchanged.

Agree. Do people think they really care or notice these things?

Wait so I'm confused. You're saying m1 & m2 14" pros are basically equal?

lol ironic how we got to this comment but essentially, yes. they are basically equal.
sure the new one has slightly faster m2 but other than that, it has slower ssd, and everything else equal - exactly the same.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "issue". Someone upgrading to Apple Silicone for the first time will likely be impressed regardless of SSD bandwidth. Most workflows probably don't benefit at all from the additional bandwidth. But there are plenty of i/o bound use cases where you'd notice a slow down if you went from a higher bandwidth m1/m2 to the lower bandwidth model.

You're unlikely to have issues. Yes it's slower, no you probably won't notice it unless you happen to do a lot of sequential throughput,

But for $10 more you can buy it NEW with 2 years of warranty from Costco. I don't understand your comment.
