How good is the vision? Do I need to have the kids pick up toys, or will it do fine?
The perfect bot would have a bigger, better dirt bin (this one is too small and doesn't even really fill completely. It would also have the Neato "D" shape so the brush is wider and gets closer to the edge.
Brief answer no. I prep the area before cleaning. This thing will avoid larger toys (and does a much better job than my iRobots ever did) but if there is something small on the ground such as a nerf dart for example it will run it over and get caught. This is by gar the best robot vac I could find and we like it so much we bought a second for upstairs as well.

I've got the S7 and it's the best bot I've owned, but I'll wait for the dust bin and vision to be improved before upgrading.
We should get the kids in the habit of cleaning up anyhow. Running the bot is a good excuse to get the place tidy. Tell the kids whatever they don't pick up will be eaten by the robot.

My phone is made in China but at least the profits come back to the good ole USA and not communist China, pretty big difference.
Riiiiight, so all the manufacturing of parts and assembly is done for free and not benefit China, solid logic. I also like the dismissal of the small point that Apple has registered its financial division in Ireland to avoid ~13-15B in taxes.

Call Wyze a Yaris and Roborock a Rolls Royce if you want. But it's not like the Wyze is a trampoline while the Roborock is a vacuum.

I absolutely love it. Vacuum every day, and mop 2x a week. It'll pay for itself in about 2 months.
Is the Max V model that much better?

Yes, if they are a stock holder.
In 2021 Apple committed to 430 billion in US spending, including a bunch of jobs. That's more than Roborocks* entire market cap.
Odd pick of a company to try to prove a point on.
*edit, Roborocks Parent Company Xiaomi
