They should be the same internally and WD 3D is slightly cheaper. There is also an unknown:
The Sandisk SDSSDH3-1T00-G26 is $59.99 (new)
The Sandisk SDSSDH3-1T00-G25 is $64.99 (old)
Usually a SKU change means controller firmware or internal component changes in the factory (like the latest variant of MX500). There is a chance that Sandisk swapped internal parts to lower the cost of the G26 but I couldn't find any reliable source about the differences. Given WD 3D is cheaper and the parts are well known, it's the safer and better choice imo. At these low prices, can't go very wrong with either choice or the MX500.
I have one of these drives, but the read speeds for old files became massively slower over time, affecting my usage. Your mileage may vary[allinfo.space].
If you do buy one, run periodic backups to avoid risking a painfully slow migration later on. (I lost track of my receipt, so no RMA'ing for me. Going to try my luck with the MX500 this time.)

WD cold-down problem should be solved now with new firmware.
damn do you remember when did you buy it? I remember this is known issue in 2019-2020.
It actually was 2019. Tough luck . That was a pretty cursed year for my hardware; I had a backup drive fail, and later my phone and laptop died within weeks of each other. It's 2023 now and the gift keeps on giving . Just thankful to be healthy and employed (knock on wood).
