This isn't a bad deal for a 2023 if a fast processor is important to you, but last years Legion Pro with 3070 Ti and 12700h for the same price seems better. Better display, faster gaming performance.

Been looking for a while now. Some stand out pro's to me.

This supposedly has more than 500 nits of brightness on a 100% sRGB screen.
DDR5 RAM
PCIe 4.0 NVME drive (There are 2 gen 4 slots)
13th gen CPU
MUX switch is a bonus
1920x1200 screen (a bit taller at 16:10) - Although 1440p would have been cool at this size.

Somewhat of a con for me, no 10-key at this size. Easily could have fit. But that's not a dealbreaker.

You hit it right on the nose. Exactly my thoughts. Just a couple weeks ago I pulled the trigger on a Legion because it did include a 10 key. Some people may not have the need but as old as I am and using the term "full size" keyboard I would think it would be included. No regrets even though this one may have better performance stat wise. The Legion is still a great machine.

That is likely a typo. All 4060 should have 8GB.

RTX 4060 is faster than a 3070 and at least 20% faster than a 3060. 3070 Ti is about 3% faster, almost the same.

4060 is typically only around 10fps faster in games than a 3070 and the latter can be purchased for hundreds cheaper than a 4060.

Why on earth is a 4060 worse than a 3070? Seems scammy to sell ignorant people like me less for more.
Because the numbers are a confusing naming convention.. 10/20/30/40 = generation. 60/70/80/90 = how much power (like a bigger car engine). I don't remember why TI exists but I think they're just more configurations that tend to have more power but also convolute things comparisons.

So, when the newest generation of card becomes available, that doesn't necessarily make the 4060(budget powerful card) suddenly more powerful than last generations 3070(premium budget card).

That or I don't understand at all.

I am in the opposite camp and view a gaming laptop with a numpad as a con, unless you need it for your job. It makes your typing less natural / cramped for a feature that is almost never used in games (haven't used the numpad for games since the 90's) and I can touch type the number row. Every keyboard I have purchased in the past ~7 years has also been a TKL for better ergonomics (less distance between wasd with left hand and mouse with right). But if needed, USB numpads are about $10.

No doubt it will go back on sale again in the coming weeks. I would not pick up a slow 4060+1080p display for the same $1399.
Picked this up for 1399 for BB DOTD! Added crucial ddr5 32 (16x2) and a Samsung pro 980 1tb. This thing is a BEAST.

Need a laptop to jot notes and do daily journal entries. Is this good enough for that task?

Wow, did not think 4060 laptop would be priced this low... just got a Legion 5 Pro with a 3070ti a few weeks ago, specs wise it's pretty similar (3070ti might be slightly faster I think?) but always prefer to have newer tech.

Yeah, I picked it up, too. Absolute gaming bargain of the year, and whizzes all over a 4060. Wish the fans were quieter, but such is life. Which RAM did you pick up?
