Amazing controller so far got it last Xmas on VerizonUp "galore" for 50% off. All the customization options on Elite made me soooo much better at MP games I just can't go back to regular stock controller which is used to crack walnuts atm
I would not recommend this controller. Build quality on this Series X and core is worst of any controller ever made. Guaranteed to break, even if you take care of it. Stick drift, face buttons break or fail to register, triggers stop working, sensor on bumpers fail, grip on the back of the controller will peel off. Save your money and your time and buy another controller. I know people who have litterally gone through 4,5, and 6 of these controllers.
The regular Xbox controller is reliable, not this.
I dont understand how people have all these issues. I have 4 elites. 3 black 1 white. 2 of my black ones are from the original elite bundles from 2015. All 4 still work flawlessly. Are you guys just extremely rough with these ?
Stop it, these controllers are straight trash. Maybe you've been lucky with yours and maybe you got a better batch. Previous version Elite 1 was better, but still not good. It's documented and a fact, these controllers are not built well at all. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. It's either the design, the manufacturing, the materials, or everything... but the controller is up straight up trash. I know people who've litterally gone through 6 of these controllers, every single one of them broke.
I've ordered two of these, one was broken out of the box, the other one broke within a week of gaming (only a few hours). Complete trash product. The regular Xbox controller is 1000 times better than this garbage.
Some people have weird experiences. Out of 1000+ packages between 3-4 people in 5 years never had a wrong thing sent
Definitely weird, this was a case of someone swapping an item, I got the original box for the correct item, it just had a cheaper heavily used turtle beach controller inside. I went from hundreds of orders last year with one issue to several issues in a row this year. No idea why, it's specifically an issue with gaming controllers oddly.

I have original Elite from 2016/17 (forget when) and still going, but similar A button response issues I'm hoping to avoid. I prefer the elite grips vs standard controller and thumbstick options. I've had to replace thumbsticks (external part) because the padding wore down and split and similar with the outer grips. The inner grip is starting to peel and looks more challenging to replace. I'm thinking I will replace and keeping an eye on hall effect tech, first one I've seen gulikit has decent reviews on the thumbsticks but folks reviewing on amazon complain about the triggers sticking and build consistency. Razer has a few interesting options with other pro's and con's I'm keeping an eye on. Point being I think there's issues with all the options? Price / value needs to be factored in of course.
Does this still have the reliability issues that the old Elite 2s suffered?
All first party controllers for all the modern consoles use the same ALPS potentiometers in their thumbsticks. This is why they all develop "stick drift" so quickly. These potentiometers are rated for 2,000,000 cycles, which is about 400 hours of gameplay. So, if you played two hours a day, everyday, that's around 6 months. A few older consoles (Sega Saturn and GameCube) used hall-effect sensors, which will last for decades, but they quickly realized that they're losing out on a lot of money if customers aren't regularly having to buy new controllers. This is why all the manufacturers always have multiple class-action lawsuits filed against them due to planned obsolescence. The problem is, they make much more money from new controller purchases than they lose to lawsuits/legal fees. The only current controller with hall-effect sensors is the Gullikit KingKong 2 Pro, but the only console that supports it currently is the Switch, since it uses Bluetooth. It also works for PC and Android. They also make replacement hall-effect sticks for the Steam Deck. They're working on replacement sticks for Xbox and Playstation controllers, but they've stated it might take awhile to engineer them.

Honestly, Sony dual sense edge is probably the most reliable elite controller on the market. Thumb sticks can be replaced if they start to drift, and that's an issue any controller will suffer from over time.

Hard pass on dual sense edge and its battery life like it's 1999. 🪫

I think you're lucky. I have 2 Series 2s, one has a faulty rb so I'm looking for a replacement. Have over 2 years on it so can't complain too much, but still, these definitely aren't flawless.
