On the fence. My hacked PS Vita is great for emulation, but I really like the Game Boy form-factor…. And this thing runs Linux, could be fun to tinker with. Decisions, decisions
I jumped on it at 84.99 - 12 coupon. Prob has good resale value at this price point if we don't like it. I Agree form factor and resolution look good for old style 8/16bit 4:3 games

Check out Retro Game Corps on YouTube to help determine if you're thinking about upgrading from version 2 or just interested in comparing to similar handhelds.. Also, $68 is the normal reseller price. Just wait for restocks. Don't overpay like everyone did for ps5

People....

There are plenty of reviews on Youtube for this thing. All of your questions will be answered ;-)

It's a great little device for what it does. I'm grabbing this for sure.

I got an Anbernic RG353V last Xmas and I can't believe how good it is. As a kid in the 80s, I could never imagine having a portable device like this to play arcade games, Commodore 64 games, SNES games and more!

I have a pretty tricked out full size MAME arcade cabinet and a Nintendo Switch and I barely use them since getting this.

I think having the dual analog sticks of the model I have is a pretty big plus. Robotron is amazing! The unit is small and using the controls is a bit uncomfortable at times but I have gotten used to it for the most part. I did get a Bluetooth controller and a hdmi cord to put on a TV but I haven't been able to get it to work right yet. Be aware, these devices can be tricky to dial in, I suppose both a pro and a con for a hobbyist. Reddit groups is your friend.

I am now looking for a system for my daughter. She was a kid in the 2010s and still loves the classic Pokémon games on Gameboy DS so I am looking for something that emulates that well now that she is in college.

If you are on the fence, and love the classics, don't hesitate!

Looks like the ones that are sold on Amazon for $15 with like 500 games on them. They just put more free ROMs on this one. IMO, big waste of $$$.

Do you know why the 256GB version comes with less games than the 64GB version? Is there an easy way to download all the games? I don't wanna miss anything.

I have one of these and it's pretty great.

It's features and compatibility blow those cheap ones away but there are plenty of videos on this.

I have a regular mini but I don't use it much because it's just too small to comfortably use with large hands. The plus looks like a step up but even still too small. I really need to get one of the ones that are larger switch sized or something.

You are absolutely wrong, I would do some research before spreading misinformation. Simple YouTube search would have shown you this

Can someone chime in whether it would be a good console for 6 yr old? She just started playing on switch (basic games like kirby/Mario party/ singing monsters) with some help. Just wanted to know whether it would be a good device to keep the kid occupied for travel. TIA
I have the Abernic RG35XX and a big fan, but there is bit of a learning curve to set it up properly if you don't want to use the built in stuff. I think Switch would still be the way to go, Nintendo just added Game Boy for free with Switch Online. Or even an OG Game Boy, Pocket, Color, Advance, etc + a ROM cart. There's tons of settings inside Retroarch so I can easily see a kid screwing it up somehow. It's not the end of the world, as all you need to do is to re-image the SD card and copy the ROMs you want back over. One thing I would watch out for is not just blindly downloading an entire ROM library to the handheld. There are some bootleg adult games on the NES/SNES that would be inappropriate for a child.

I got the miyoo mini and it is amazing, anbernic also has great devices. This isn't the same cheap preloaded devices that make its way to front page. You actually need to have some basic computer knowledge and patience to fully utilize these devices. A good YouTube video can bring you up to speed even with very little knowledge. I have gone back and played old computer games through Scummvm, just research how it can be done!

Is this games list roughly accurate?

Was excited to find this as I was literally searching for a replacement to Game Boy last week. My concern though with this is that it will not be comfortable like game boy. With GB you had space on bottom a bit so you can hold the device comfortably. This one from the reviews it might be good small kids but not really comfortable for adult to hold it. Just my thought on it. I think the RG353V/RG353VS seems a bit bigger and might be more comfortable. I haven't tried any of these yet but its quite tempting.
I have the Abernic 35GXX and I still find it a bit too small for long playing sessions and my hands start to cramp up. Not the end of the world, it was still an amazing bargin considering what you get. I would love it if they made one with the same exact form factor as the DMG Game Boy. I looked into screen mods and it's just too much work IMHO.
