Largest selection of destinations by an insanely huge margin.
Best on time performance.

But all in all, Southwest is my hands down airline to fly domestically any day.

Now if they could only fix the pre-board abusers that use it as free early bird checkin.
My airport is a southwest hub and I dont fly other airlines unless my work pays for it (or if I have miles to burn). I say it's true that southwest was the worst during the holiday meltdown but it's also true that they are one of the bests more often than not.

I once was in IAD with the steak sauce and I saw a person literally sprint to the gate agent and ask if they were boarding yet because he was going to get a preboard.. I am sympathetic to those with genuine disabilities but there is massive abuse here and also on deplaning. On another recent flight a young lady wearing extremely fancy designer clothes and handbags got a preboard obviously because she was on the tall side, height isn't a disability or mobility impairment last I checked, she should be buying upgraded boarding if she needs bulk head. It really is out of hand.
The major airlines offer no-fee cancellations now: American, Alaska, United, JetBlue, Delta. The exception is if you buy the special "basic economy" fare which either can't be changed or incurs a fee. Basic is intended to compete with bare bones carriers.
I like Southwest for the nonstops they offer where others don't, and their flexible policies, but I like AA for other reasons too.
