Interesting. I've never had to pay fees to pick up food from a restaurant when not using DoorDash.

I have DashPass free from my credit card. You get 5% DoorDash credit for pickup orders.

The only time I use DoorDash is when there's a coupon. And the only time I purchase a DoorDash gift card is when they're available for 15% off. The only time I use delivery is when I travel & am stuck in a hotel. Otherwise I always pickup.

Doordash gift cards usually come on sale for 15-20% total discount. That clubbed with the other discounts like this, group orders result in a good deal for pickup.

With pickup, you avoid the additional DD charges like service fee, tips etc.
