I purchased the vector 2 about 6 years ago when it came with a 1060 graphics card and I was able to stack it down to $800. I thought that was a sweet deal then. it was my first gaming laptop. I haven't played any intense high setting games but it made a difference when I was playing world of Warcraft and I should have upgraded earlier.... Anyway I had a replace the battery after 2 years, and graphics fan failed after the third year. Couple of keys randomly stopped working at my 5th year, so I started using an external keyboard so I don't put so much wear and tear. What I'm trying to say here is a parts are really hard to find and expensive for this brand name. I would also say reparability is complex and involves a lot of work just to replace one part.
the specs look nice, but give it about a year and you will realize something is missing and they did not add that feature. like why would they still do a 720p camera is mind-boggling to me. it should be HD camera by now.

The scenario is completely different for these laptops now as I mentioned in my suggestion section. All these laptops are made by same ODM, probably Tongfang and multiple botique companies like Cyberpower, Adata XPG, Eluktronics, maingear all sells it under their brand name. Because of the common nature of the hardware, it is pretty easy to find replcement components like Keyboard
-Legion has an i7 vs. i9
-Legion has a 3070 ti vs. 4080
-Legion has 165Hz refresh vs. 240Hz
-Legion has Wifi 6E vs. 6
My build came with 2 X 1TB 2280 M2 drives (vs. 1TB here) and Win 11 Pro (vs. Home here), and I paid $1640 before tax.
Seems like this is a pretty good deal. For an extra $400 you get a current gen, higher tier GPU and a noticeably more powerful CPU as well.
So far the Legion has handled every game I've thrown at it (MS Flight Sim, Doom Eternal, No Man's Sky, etc.) without any issue, so I'm happy—but I can still return. Is it worth the extra $500 to get the extra DLSS3 option with the 4080 and newer/faster CPU?

I just bought a Legion 5i Pro with similar specs:

Not without GSync it isn't. I had ordered this this morning and just cancelled. Without GSync it's worthless. Only the 17" model has GSync.
Wow this seems like a great deal. With the water cooling attachment (TRACER VII LIQUID COOLING KIT, RESERVOIR, RGB FAN, SOFTTUBE W/ QUICK CONNECT - $149), it brings the total price to $2,379.00. Tough to beat IMO as well as the laptop build holds up.

If you like screen tearing in all your games, sure. I'm still in disbelief that Cyberpower hamstrung this machine with no Nvidia G-Sync. DO NOT BUY THIS.
Great deal with the water cooling option. Basically this will perform like a 3090 desktop. Decided to grab one with my citi card free extended 2 additional year warraty.

With a desktop you could pick a display that doesn't suck. I'm really warning people of buying the 16". There's a reason the 17" isn't in stock but the 16" is...

Some people game with a separate monitor while at home, especially with the water cooled option. You can also set the display for a lower refresh rate to avoid screen tearing if that bothers you.

If it's like many other laptop screens, you can set it to 60hz or 240hz, and nothing in between.

Does the lack of G-Sync really make a big difference? I connected my Legion to an old Dell 4K monitor (P2715Q) that doesn't have G-Sync, and it looked pretty good to me, compared to the laptop display and compared to my 240Hz Dell monitor (S2522HG) that does have G-Sync.
Does it depend on the type of game you're playing where it makes a big difference?
