Picked up a pair of these about 10 days ago when they were $195 on Ebay. NOTHING, can touch these as far as sound quality for under $200 , NOTHING!!! You will not be disappointed in them. Beware thou, they are large, even larger then they look in pics. The cherry color does not go w/ anything unless you have cherry speakers but you can easily wrap then for $5 with a piece of black vinyl wood wrap on Amazon. Also, if you have a receiver or amp with integrated EQ in it, you can really get them perfect by adjusting a few of the mid & high frequencies.. If your on the fence, get them, there fantastic at this price point!

Can anyone suggest an amp that will allow me to get the full capacity of these things? I am not familiar with the wattage and capacity of amps. I need them to be pretty loud for 25ft x 16 ft room.

Mine came in a few days ago, the size is pretty shocking. Sound and look great, can't imagine getting something better for $200. Still planning on getting RP-280F floor speakers and switching these to the rear, but it feels ridiculous for my apartment, so I've held off for now. Will definitely grab the RP-450C, regret missing the $260 deal a week ago.

been meaning to change out my desktop speaker system and comments here sound good. I currently have an old Sony hifi driving speakers and a Subwoofer. Could use some help figuring how I would drive these from my PC? Do I need to buy a separate DAC+AMP? Would I be able to drive the subwoofer too? The subwoofer has custom Sony plugs to the Hifi system (MHC-EC909iP)
Appreciate suggestions!

Honestly, between the 530 and the 160 I prefer the 160's/600's.. but some may prefer the sound of the Jbl's. i hate the look of the Jbl's but that is Subjective, but no matter what you will never go wrong w/ these for under $200!

Would these be a better surround speaker than RS-52ii?
Honestly, I have used the Rs-52's II and they are excellent surround speakers!! The 160's will sound much "stronger" and be able to reproduce any Freq you throw at it w/out issue... That being said, the rs-52's are excellent at what they do and they create a very wide sound dispersion. If you are happy w/ them I would keep them, if you want more low end then the 160 will do that. I would say the larger Rs-62's would match up to the out put of the rp-160's but the rs'62's would have a wider sound stage due to there unique design.

Thanks for using my idea on the wrap from my Newegg top comment Wink
lol...I have been using the $5 Vinyl trick for years now on speakers, cabs, etc... Actually, I didn't buy my 160's from New egg directly but from there Ebay listing so I would not have seen your post....Who knows , maybe you posted it years go on here and that is where I saw it.. It's a great idea and hope others will not "worry" about the Cherry color, which is not great but not terrible either just won't go w/ anything else unless you have all cherry. There is a reason why they still have so many of these fantastic 5-8 year old speakers still in stock in this color..... lol..

Everyone here loves these but hate on the 600ms for poor midrange?
I can honestly say that would not be true. I have had both the 600 I and these 160's. Both sound almost identical w/ the 600m I's having the slightest lest brightness due to the vented Horns. Both the 160 and the 600m I both suffer from a steep drop off around the 1500-1800 Freq range, I have found if you have a good receiver w/ EQ or a DSP unit, you can flatten out the Freq response on these to compensate for the drop in that section of the midrange. The new 600m II's are much improved and not just a cosmetic refresh like the 600m I was to the 160 and they have eliminated this issue but who wants to pay $749 for the new 600m II's>? Not me!

Thanks for the advice. I am satisfied with the sound so far, so I think I'll keep them.

Does anyone see any conflict with pairing this Amp with these speakers?
https://fosiaudioshop.com/product...-amplifier
I already have the amp.

8 ohm speakers fall into its 2-8 ohm impedance rating.
The speaker RMS is 100 watts at 8 ohms.
The amp is rated for 165 watts at 4 ohms per channel.
Does this mean that it will drive each speaker at 82.5 watts?
I assume this just means I won't be able to push them to their limit...nothing bad, right?
Yeah that would be a great amp for these. A lot of these TPA3255 Chinese amps let you put a bigger power supply on to boost the output wattage but I'm not seeing that in the manual for your fosi.

Anyways you should get pretty good results. I have a vaguely similar amp driving less efficient speakers and they get louder than safe listening levels.

If you want to go down the budget "separates" rabbit hole check out the wiim mini and then a DAC for $100-300 (zillion options).

How would these do as sole speakers for a record player?
