Surprised at the lack of love for this deal - seemed pretty good, although shipping is dead now.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that it is an HP!
Six months ago, I purchased a 17.3 HP laptop. Performance wise it's great but the build quality is subpar..... CHEAP brittle plastic.
Never again will I purchase a HP laptop, even if it's a great sale.

That's funny, I've purchased 3 consecutive Omen 17s. I find the build quality incredible and the design so sleek for something necessarily thiccccc.

These things perform better than anything else I've treid out there, including the thic boy Legions, the thermal design on the Omen is 10/10 ( can't speak to the 15 and 16 inch versions which may suck ). Honestly these things make my life so much better as a software architect who finds it hard to do my job on less than 3 monitors. Zero adapters or dongles and narry a hiccup in something like 4 years.

I don't need this, but seems like a good deal for those that do.

But what's up with that white text on a super light gray background?! Impossible to read

Solid price for a 3070Ti, if need any future upgrade, upgrade to 32G ram or add in more SSD for storage.

I have a slightly older version of this, 11th gen with a 3060. Great machine. It's not really a "laptop", though. More of a portable workstation. Just keep that in mind. Great build quality, nice screen, good keyboard. The trackpad isn't fantastic, but I don't like those much on any laptop and use a mouse whenever possible.

Looks like the 40X0 series just came out

If you have some time, watch this video. These Omens are so good this guy gets repeatedly startled by how good the performance is per dollar. This has been my exact experience owning multiple of these. But if you have a bit more to spend, the new frame generation that the 40X0 series is capable of is worth the extra price if you plan on gaming

Same here, trackpad randomly stops working. Always need a mouse nearby.

I bought 2 HP omens with the RTX 30xx series, overall a solid build. One of them did run slow for about 6 months before I realized the ssd it came with was faulty and reading slow. Had to clone the drive with Macrium reflect (freeware) to an nvme drive and it worked fine after that. Hopefully you won't run into that problem but that was my experience. My one gripe was that the backlit keyboard wasn't colors for individual keys but 4 sectionals instead. Not really a deal breaker but it would have been nice for a proper wave effect with the lights.

I had glitchy trackpad and just turning it off then on resolved the choppiness. I don't remember the key though, maybe F11?

Is the only difference from this Costco one the SSD (1TB @ Costco vs 512Gig MC) and the extra year warranty at Costco? Or anything else? https://www.costco.com/hp-omen-17...54173.html

That's funny, I specifically avoid laptops w/ numpads because of how it offsets where your hands are while you use it. Are you a CPA from the 80's? Can't think of any other job where you'd care about a numpad
Obviously you've never met anyone that does estimating, construction, architecture, or engineering. Yes, we use NUMBERS (shocking I know) and hence the need for a NUMERIC keypad. It's far faster and more convenient than using the top row number keys. I, like others here and because I'm in one of those fields, would not consider a laptop w/o a numeric keypad.
