I have personal experience with this stand and the two current 10" Kobalt Miter saws. The just released SM2518LW and the SM2517LW that might still be on the shelves at a discount will NOT fit this stand. I would also question if the 7 1/4 miter saw will fit -- just an assumption. The front-to-back mounting holes on the 12" Kobalt are 12 1/2" and will fit the stand. If I recall correctly, the mounting holes on the 10" are either 11 1/2" or 10 1/2". Ended up taking back the 10" Miter Saw I bought the same day with the stand, to upgrade to the 12" since the staff at the store were willing to open the new 10" model to confirm it also has the narrow mounting holes. The stand is really nice and well built otherwise.
The closest price in my area is $45 / Limited Stock / 45 minute drive .

Anyone have an opinion on this vs the MUCH more expensive rolling one?

It's the Kobalt Steel adjustable rolling mitre saw stand for $179, cheapest of which I've seen go for $149, but obviously this is way cheaper: any downside to getting this other than no wheels??

I can't speak for the rolling stand, but the stationary stand is a well built, nice stand, especially for the low price. I did post another comment about the stand being incompatible with the 10" Kobalt miter saws. Other than the mounting hole issue, I'm surprised the legs stick out so far since it seems like a significant tripping hazard in certain environments. This stand is excellent as long as the previous issues are not a concern and you don't need wheels.

If close to the store, go in and check pricing. In my area they've been playing with the online price. I bought mine for ~$42 around February 28th. I was checking it online on Sunday, they had it priced at ~$79. I went into the store about an hour later and the price was showing as ~$42.

I originally had this for my 12" sliding dewalt and returned it. the saw was very unstable. Switched to the dewalt DWX726 and couldn't be happier. I can leave the saw mounted, it's MUCH more stable, and it can be easily wheeled in and out when I need to use it.

Any of the ridgid/delta type saws would be more ideal for the 12" sliders. 10" and below is probably fine for the Kobalt but I will stick with the wheeled version.
