Come on, there's no need to try and make someone feel bad about having their portable game system stolen on a trip.

We should turn our ire toward the companies that set up systems that incentivize digital purchases without any sort of guarantee that you can still play what you bought if your hardware gets stolen, your account gets compromised, your system clock battery runs out, the publisher's servers go down, etc.
Christ. Do you enjoy listening to yourself jabber about nonsense?

Cars get stolen all the time.. so should we all keep our cars parked in our locked garages? The switch is a portable game system, so is 3ds, so is a Vita, so is a Steam Deck. Should we just confine ourselves in our home when we play these portable systems?
Here I was thinking this was a thread about Shovel Knight, not victim blaming.

All 3ds eshop links seem to be erroring out, but games seem to be available to buy through the device itself.

EDIT: All switch games seem to be erroring out too.

While I agree with you in theory even physical games are incomplete without downloads now days....
Completely agree. It's why I will be forever pissed at Nintendo for not releasing a finished Animal Crossing game.

Portability really wins over physical cartridges tho. I lost my switch last year. Most of my 20+ games were online download. I only had to get a used switch and re downloaded the ones I play. Just buy physical if you absolutely want to keep it forever in a place that you will never forget.
And in 10 years when you lost this Switch and you go to download all those games... but you can't because Nintendo closed down the Switch store...?

If you don't own the physical cartridge/media, you don't own the game.

At any moment, they can pull the store and you have nothing to show for your money.
Well that's just not true. Just because they stop access from purchasing from the store, doesn't mean you can't still play your games. That is just 100% false. I have deleted many games that were pulled from the store, and was still able to download and play them. Its just new people can not purchase them. And they can not delete your games off your console, so you would still 100% be able to play them without the store having to be open.

Just because they close down a store doesn't mean they close down servers where you can still download your games. What you just said is completely false. They have already said you can still download any of your games or DLC after the stores close.

Always so much misinformation from scared physical hoarders.

As I said, if you want something absolute after 10 years... Yes buy it in physical. Anyways, just wanted to point that going digital has upsides like in my case. Didn't think it would be this mess of a post lol.

True, these companies don't promote fair ownership and access of the material. But there's a component of personal responsibility. One has to take care of what they own.

But hey, if you value portability like the above poster did -- guess what, so do thieves. You reap what you sow.

These are good deals wish there was more for the older titles. Bought a few already like shovel knight and will buy metroid trilogy.

Maybe someone here can help me out or point me in the right direction. I'm trying to prepare for when Nintendo store on Wii U and 2ds goes down.

Can I still buy a 3ds after nintendo store goes down and have access to download my games?

Can I change my email on my Nintendo account and that won't mess my purchases on my Wii U and 2Ds?

Do I have to have every game installed on my Wii U before the Nintendo store goes closes?

- You can certainly buy a 3ds whenever and then transfer your NNID using system transfer or calling nintendo. You lose saves if you call Nintendo. (not sure if this option will be available after closure, but I don't see why not.)
- I don't know.
- No

Tempted to buy this and sell my physical copy.

Physical copy is original game without DLC. Is the DLC Expansion stuff worth a re-purchase at this price?

This, I lost my switch with 15 games in an airport. Hated having to rebuy all the games. Different situationa for different people.

I have this rule with myself and my kids of no more than 3 physical games with the console at any given point. Really pricey to lose most games in one fell swoop.
