According to a recent Tweet by the publisher:

... they said in a reply in the comments there that the DLC was also going to be included in the sale but I've a read a comment elsewhere that suggests otherwise.
It is sublime. It is a game of the decade candidate. It does nothing too new, but every mechanic is in tune and is interesting. The pace is perfect. The story is fine, with humor and robots to elevate its basicness.
If you can get it o steamdeck or switch, that's the best way.
I bought it again for N3ds just to play it somewhere else.
Steamworld heist is an interesting 2d side scrolling, turn based game. Also good. Steamworld dig 1 is fine, but 2 is a mastapeece.

"To purchase or redeem this software, your Nintendo Account must be linked with the Nintendo Network ID for your Wii U / Nintendo 3DS family system."
Any idea how to fix this?

Create or sign in to your nintendo.com account.
Go to account settings (the link is found by clicking your username in the top-right of the page). You should end up on the "User Info" page.
At the bottom of this page is a section called "Linked Accounts".
Click on the "Edit" button to the right of this section header.
You should be able to click on "Nintendo Network ID" and follow whatever steps it presents which is probably something simple like putting in your username and password that you have used with the 3ds.

Steamworld Dig can scratch the same itch and has a much more approachable difficulty curve. If you want immense satisfaction when finally defeating that boss after the 12th attempt, Hollow Knight. When you're looking for a less stressful metroidvania style game, Steamworld Dig is excellent.
