This is completely false. if you sweat this is exactly what you want. Athletic wicking material like this is a game changer. I'm a HVAC dude that works in hot attics in the summer.
Learn how to shower and clean yourself
Why do you say that? I find that Polyester typically wicks better than cotton, keeping my balls dryer and less smelly.

So I'm going to give you something to think about. The idea that polyester is the right material in "hot" climates is mostly bullshit propogated by athletic companies so they can use cheaper materials. It's true that it doesn't absorb moisture like cotton so if that's really the number 1 priority then polyester is the right choice but for overall ability to stay COOL, cotton wins hands down. Think about the hottest climates on earth, desert climates, South Asia... those people are never wearing polyester outside. They are covering themselves in cotton and breathable materials. Polyester may not absorb sweat but it will CAUSE you to sweat more if you are in heat already.
Edit: To add to this, I have some army surplus thermal underwear (both top and bottom). It's made out of polypropylene. It's literally what infantry would wear under everything if they were hypothetically fighting in Siberia. That's what the US Army decided was the most heat trapping material. And same with Under Armour's very famous heatgear... it's all polyester because it traps heat.
This has been my preferred fabric and brand of underwear for years, except I prefer long leg so it doesn't ride up as much. I would like to get a few more, but that style is still full price.

Polyester notoriously retains smells much more than cotton. "Wick" as much as you want, but your nether regions will be disgustingly smelly much faster than the cotton equivalent.

This exactly. The only reason to ever use polyester is to wear for a temporary gym/workout session or something similar. Wearing for long periods of time is just ridiculous and will start to gather all sorts of nasty scents.
Imagine why good quality, breathable fabrics cost much more than cheap junk polyester…Wool, Linen, Cotton, even Silk or Cashmere are some fabrics that are known for their durability/breathability and high levels of comfort.
Wearing plastic on your body is just dumb and feeds into this cycle of enriching the cashgrabs by these pitiful corporations that gloat about "recycled" components as if it's something to be proud of (instead of telling you the real truth of their massive cost savings padding their bottom line).

Polyester = bad smell for me. Both underwear and t-shirts
Fruit of the Loom boxers and boxer briefs are significantly better than Hanes and many other makers. I've seen post after post of boxer and boxer brief slick deals, but these are head and shoulders above the rest.

Absolutely a better alternative. Go for those instead.

Quite the opposite for me. Less chaffing because it's quite snug
