BTW they have the r7 7735HS model here: https://store.minisforum.com/prod...8611432693

$100 more expensive (34%) but 2x the GPU performance, USB4, DDR5, and 34% more CPU multi-threaded performance. A pretty good MacMini competitor.

Not all Ryzen 7000 series CPUs belong to same architecture. The one you're referring is called mendocino, designed for low cost laptops and has maximum 4 Zen 2 based cores and 2 or 3 RDNA based Graphics core.

See my post above. r7 7735HS with Radeon 680m. 2x more powerful than Vega 8 on r5 5600G.

Top unit now lists a 5700g instead so 8/16 instead for the same price.

I'm intrigued by a G series CPU in one of these things, they have a decent integrated GPU.

So these do for sure come with W11 installed? Just reading the page, it says 10 and upgradable to 11. Also only seeing 32GB Ram and 512 m.2 rather than 1tb option? Anyone familiar with the company? Not really interested in W11, so 10 would be sweet.

Not 2.5G LAN, both ports are Gigabit.

I have an old Minisforum GK41 running PFSense. Nice little machine for the price, though I don't know what their support is like.

This model is a bit weak now considering the 6000 and 7000 series with the RDNA2 iGPU is a few years ahead of this. (Vega is first came out in 2017 in the form of Vega 64 (GCN5) which has roots back in 2012 with GCN) The transcoding engine is also so weak that people found CPU encoding with 8 threads to be faster than GPU accelerated encoding.

That's why this is cheap, you won't find a 6000 or 7000 r5 in this price range in the next 6 months (likely not).

From what I see on YouTube reviews, as with most smaller brands, they don't really have much post purchase firmware support.

Corrected that info, it was a mistake from my end about 1TB SSD.

what are you talking about? iGPU on Ryzen 5000G is way more powerful than Ryzen 7000 (only 2 graphics cores for basic rendering)

Is there any advantage to buying this with RAM and SSD included instead of sourcing it yourself?

No particular advantage. All depends on whether you can source it yourself for cheaper. Most of the time you can, or perhaps you would rather pay more to get a higher class SSD than the one they might supply.

Just built a 5600g/a520i/500GB/16GB/In Win Chopin Pro and this looks to be a tad bit cheaper with wifi 6.

Decent deal till its thermal throttles constantly.

Also, they won't ship till April might want to add that to the post.
