You can not have more than 1 Sapphire card at the same time, and you can not get a new Sapphire signup bonus if you received one on any Sapphire card in the last 48 months.
For anyone debating on whether to go for this, know that the all time high is 100k bonus points, making this a very lucrative opportunity.
You can- I've seen YMMV reports about how many days you need to wait between cancelling and new application though.

Also things to keep in mind:

Use any credits you might have on existing card you haven't used yet.
Insure you move your UR points to a different card before closing old one.

What if you still have the card but want to cancel and reapply? I got the bonus like 5 years ago

Just got a rejection for having received a sapphire bonus in the last 4 years to an online application.

I can't see when I opened the preferred but I see that annual fee is posted April 2021 and April 2022. Is it possible for me to downgrade to flex or unlimited and get this bonus again.

Depends what you use them for. 1 cent each taken as cash but that's about the lowest-value use of em. For travel they'll be worth anywhere from 1.25c on the low end (chase portal), to 1.5-2.5 cents mid-range (Hyatt hotel transfers and coach airline transfers typically) to as much as 4-8 cents a point on the high end (transfers to airlines for flight bookings)

Credit karma should show when the account was opened- but since the bonus wait period for sapphire is 48 months that means you'd have to have earned your previous bonus no later than March 2019 to qualify now in March 2023.

Yea I remember you needed to wait before applying if you cancel but you can downgrade instead to skip the wait. That's what I did last time I did the CSR/CSP double dip two years ago. Hopefully this offer comes back in two years haha

If you are still a client with Chase, their CSR can tell you.

Downgrade to Freedom instead of cancelling.

My wife applied for their card 4 months back but she forgot to spend 4K and never received the sign up bonus. She downgraded the card 2 weeks back to a freedom card. Can she apply for this card and get the bonus after spending 4K in 3 months?

Thoughts on closing cards and impact to average age of cards as relates to credit score?

Downgrade is typically considered better.... if you don't already have an unlimited or freedom type chase card that'd be the way to go (or an additional freedom for a second $1500/quarter 5x cap if you tend to go over the cap some quarters)

As to closing hurting your score--- Average age isn't a significant reason (cards stay on your report, and continue to age, for 7-10 years after you close them).... the bigger factor tends to be utilization...Now if you've been churning a while and have a bunch of open cards and only ever hit 1-2% utilization a month anyway, not an issue... but for folks who have say 2 cards each with a 5k limit and usually charge $2,000 a month, then you close one card, your utilization suddenly jumps from 20% to 40% and that's gonna be a significant score hit.
