The accuracy and software of these cheap generic models are poor.

Better off buying a used established brand like Samsung, Apple, Fitbit, Garmin, etc.

They have to be tied to an app that always runs and can't be stopped which drains your phone's battery.

I've been using the I205L knockoff fitness watch that's available under various labels like let$fit for the past few years, and while it's definitely worth the $30 or so I paid for it, it has one huge drawback that makes me want to replace it with a "real" fitness watch.

Namely, if I pause it while resting during a run or to tie my shoelaces, if it's overcast or I'm running in a forest trail or under an overpass, it often adds to my total distance, anywhere from a quarter mile to many miles, making it useless as a distance tracker. When it doesn't do this it's a perfectly adequate fitness tracker, but when it does it renders the readings and thus itself useless.

I'm trying to figure out what's the cheapest "real" fitness watch I can get. I don't need anything too fancy, just accurate distance no matter what, heart rate, and perhaps O2. Decent battery life and typical extra features like notifications, controlling my phone's music app, stopwatch with laps, weather, etc., would be nice but not essential.

Some fitness watches don't require you to carry a phone. Plus, is it so hard to charge your phone after a workout? I honestly don't get all this whining about phones that need to be charged every day or two. Huh?!? Are people literally that spoiled and lazy? Especially ones with the discipline to work out?

How can it track a history if it isn't tied to your phone? It says it is also a smart watch but it can't answer phone calls or receive texts if it isn't tied to your phone.

If you are charging your phone every day or two you got ripped off.

My phone's 3.5 years old so I charge it daily now. It's just that I don't see why people find that to be so annoying. Most of the time you're at your desk or at home or driving, where there's almost always an outlet or USB port nearby. People are just lazy and entitled. It's like, getting a coffee to go every morning for $5 instead of making it at home.

Anyway, I said "carry" a phone, as in when you're actually working out, not later when you want to go over your workouts. Obviously they have to be linked for that. Watches with built-in GPS don't require you to carry a phone to track location and distance.

Just because you can charge a phone 4 times per day doesn't mean you should accept that.

Do you have reading comprehension issues, or just trolling? I said once a day, not 2, 3, 4 or more times a day.

Anyone who can't be bothered to charge their phones daily who isn't out in the bush or the like is basically an idiot.

Probably it's more than you want to spend, but something like the Garmin Instinct eSports edition might mostly fit the bill. It has been $80 or so via GameStop, and most recently on sale at Buydig (I think). There might still be a deal up for it on SD. Not sure it does music stuff or weather but I think it fits the bill otherwise. Below is a link to the Best Buy page - if you wanted to take a look

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/...Id=6439879

Edit: there doesn't seem to be any current sales for the Instinct. There's a listing on ebay for $94, but I'm sure that's still more than you'd like to pay.

The now-expired deal from March is in the link below, if you wanted to take a look at the comments:

Web site confusing. It show 1.75 AMOLED screen but this is 1.5 IPS screen. Looks like more than 3 years old stock .( wonder about battery condition and old tech) Please let me know If I 'm wrong.

I'd like to spend no more than $50 or so but am willing to spend up to $100 for a watch that will always be accurate on distance and fairly accurate on HR. I don't care about calories as that can be inferred, and extras like O2, weather and music would be nice but not essential. This is specifically for workouts, not everyday use. It should also be fairly rugged, e.g. strap doesn't break every year, sweat and light waterproof, can take being dropped or banged against something, etc.

Thanks for the tip, it certainly looks like a sports watch and seems like a decent one. I'll check for sales.
