It would work (Magni), I think they could benefit from more power but the Magni/Modi stack can't be beat for value. My friend also uses this stack to drive an Edition XS.

A fine deal for anyone settled on the 800S.

For those not settled, I'll recommend an alternative: AKG K612. The $99 headphones that made me sell my HD800s (for $800) after ~10yrs of mixing/mastering, movies and music of all genres, and gaming. I only mention it because if you're on Slickdeals you probably value value, and while this is a good deal on HD800S, IMO it's not a good deal on sound. Crinacle and oratory1990 can confirm.

HD 800S tend to sound its best with good tube amps, just like HD 700.

Wish this dropped below $1K brand new. Might bite if it gets below that price point someday.

I own these headphones, along with the Hifiman Arya Stealth revision.

They are AMAZING. Best gaming headphones I've ever heard, and fantastic for music as well.

So you're just saying that just like a blind person who can't discern the visual differences tiers of TVs or Monitors, these Headphones are of no use to you. Got it...

Not exactly. I am not deaf. I can hear very well I just have a noise bed of whooshing and ringing. So the clarity of headphones don't really matter. To a blind person all TV's are useless. To a deaf person all headphones are useless. To me headphone have use. But the clarity they provide is not important

Thanks. But I'm now even more confused. Isn't power what provides volume (including the dynamic headroom)? So if say we listen to music at low volumes you would barely consume any power anyway and that way you should theoretically have enough reserves for bursts up to say 10db above nominal listening levels.
