This is a good deal for this jacket if you like the colors. MSRP was $99 and most of the deals in the past couple months were in the $70-$80 range. TNF currently lists these colors at $69.

Forgive me but that MSRP is straight up scam
MSRP is pointless on anything, and I don't have a say laugh out loud but $110 does happen to be the reg price https://www.thenorthface.com/en-u...-pNF0A7QEY

How does this jacket compare against the alta vista deal from REI?

Too expensive for a raincoat
$55 is too expensive for a raincoat? Let alone one by TNF? Strongly disagree.

Personally, I prefer REI deal. REI have 2.5L dry vent vs this is 2L, plus $4 cheaper.

People who bash higher end (even if only perceived) brands' pricing have never had a warranty claim with one. Go ahead and buy cheaper stuff, but it won't last, and I'll get free warranty replacement when mine wears out.

I have TNF stuff dating back to the mid 90s. I just had a Patagonia jacket I bought at 50% off in 2001 fully replaced by Patagonia. I had a TNF rain jacket delam 5 years in and it was replaced no question. I didn't ask them to - I had sent it in for repair.

There is a difference.

Name Brand higher end outdoor wear at 50% off or more is the way to go imho. They stand behind their stuff.

Really?? I have an LL Bean Pullover which is 1.5 yrs old and looks brand new. The buttons have all come out. LL Bean refused to refund or replace. They give only 1 yr warranty on clothing. Most manufacturers are now limiting to 1 year warranty. The zipper on my Nautica Winter Jacket broke after a year and they refused to replace it. $300 down the gutter. Would have been better if I bought an off brand from Costco and they would refund with no questions asked.

LL Bean and Nautica are not in the same category as outdoor premium brands that stand behind their product like Patagonia, mountain hardware, arc'teryx, etc…

Zipper failed on my son's Columbia snow jacket after 5 months, sent it in for warranty repair, they said they couldn't repair and gave me $120 store credit when I know I bought it on sale for $60-70.

I returned the Alta Vista because the material was very stiff and not breathable at all.

Wonder if this is the same?
