Why wouldn't they honor their own ad 🤣. Never heard of a DG store not honoring items they put on sale. Only thing that is YMMV with gift cards at DG is paying with CASH only. Some stores still allow credit card / debit card.

If you can spend a little more now you can just buy the gift cards and re purchase and then return the other order when it arrives

Just go back at a different shift and don't say anything about the sale when you ring out. If someone says something when they see the price, just be like "oh, yeah it's on sale this week." If you still have issues, give corporate a ring on the ride home and explain how they're refusing to accept the sales at their own store.
