You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Thanks for the detailed steps. I did exactly this but one change being I added my new account to the existing account login. As soon as I signed up, I saw both account numbers under my login and also received an email stating that the old account will be cancelled midnight today. One perk of using the existing login was that I am still a PLATINUM rewards member from being an Xfinity customer for 9 years and they don't treat me as a new member for rewards purposes. I waited until midnight to reset my modem and activate the new account thru Xfinity app. Was up and running in less than 10 minutes or so.

I am so glad it worked as mine was a little complicated situation. I had Xfinity Internet with Basic TV (10 channels) for eight years as I was told over the years by agents that bundle would be cheaper compared to Internet alone. I was paying $75 for 100 Mbps and 10 TV channels. A few months ago they increased speed to 200 Mbps and increased the bill to $85. I tried to signup for this deal yesterday but couldn't as I was on a bundle deal. Called the customer service yesterday and was offered a Internet only 400 Mbps plan for $77 with 12 month contract which I signed up for. This allowed me to go into my account today and do the steps you listed above to downgrade to 200 Mbps for $25. I don't need 400 Mbps.
Other complication was that I was signed up for Xfinity Mobile $12/GB data plan. Since the old Internet account was tied to the Xfinity Mobile plan, I couldn't log into the Xfinity Mobile app as soon as the old Internet account was cancelled. After a 10 minute call late night, the agent was able to connect my Xfinity Mobile account (was given a new account number) to the new Internet account and assured me that I will see all my info on Xfinity Mobile by 7 am and all my pricing will remain the same as before. Hopefully this works and will be a guide to others like me who have Xfinity Mobile connected to the Xfinity Internet.
Would this work if I'm under contract? Would they charge me for early termination?

Just wanted to share my experience.. and you can do this with keeping the same name & phone number. I chose to create a new gmail account. I had 1 month left on my 2 year contract 800MB Internet & 120+ channels cable TV package, paying $127 a month. I chose to remove bank info on the old account since I had no balance. Before doing anything, clear the cache/history on your browser, whether it's PC/laptop or phone.

I tried calling Xfinity at first, the rep kept insisting the deal wasn't available in my area and I told her it wasn't true and I knew it was for new customers. She wouldn't budge, so I told her to cancel my service immediately, which she did so. I got the cancellation email within 15 minutes, but everything was still up & running. I then did the following steps.

1. Went to xfinity.com site, signed up as a new customer moving to my current address.
2. Chose the 200MB package, decided to keep using my own modem/router.
3. It asks to verify name and SS#, so I put the same name & my SS#.
4. It'll ask for bank info/credit card and autopay. Then it'll want to link account (I suppose cuz of the same phone # used on old account) I chose not to link my new account.
5. You'll then be asked to create an account, put your real name, phone & new email.
6. You'll then be shown the info about your new service, you'll scroll down to the bottom, accept by checking all 3 boxes, and complete the order.

You'll receive a confirmation email to your new email account within minutes. On your phone, install the Xfinity app, or sign out of the old account if you already have the app. Sign in using your new sign-in & password, then on the top left corner, click the lil icon, scroll down to activate xfinity xfi gateway or modem, then it'll ask for your modem's MAC ID (12 digits/letters) and you should be set.

Good luck!
comcrap lied as always. They want to keep people on the most expensive package as possible.

Why not wait till activate new service? Any previous service is automatically disconnected. You can even call to confirm. That's so only 1 active account per address unless its apartment/condo
Our house has 2 xfinity service/account for each floor. Had the xfi complete with their network extender, but signal and speed was shit on the 2nd floor when router is at in-law unit. Tried with other top rated Orbi mesh routers, still couldn't get decent speed. Sister decided to open another account for 2nd floor alone.

If I sign up as a new customer, would it cancel both previous account for this home?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I lucked out bcoz I was in the contract for a little more than 24 hours before switching. I read in the contract email that I can cancel it within 30 days. If you are not in first 30 days probably you will have to pay $10/month for remaining contract period for breaking it. I'm not 100% sure though.

Pay the $100 initially and call Xfinity customer service and just tell it's not your fault the house isn't wired or some small talk. Usually you should get the $100 refunded.

Dumq question, nut how do you verify it's not under contract?
Login into your account and download your statement. You should see details as to whether you are under contract

https://customer.xfinity.com/bill...nt/history

or

of course chat with them or call them?

believe it or not Smilie
contrary to what others have reported, I have had good experience with xfinity customer service.

It will probably depend on your location - good luck if Comcast is monopoly in your location. However, with the 5G internet service from TMobile and Verizon, they are going to have competition at most of the locations now.

I just went to the same place where you can choose new plans. I had the old Blast plan name and the new name they have for it now is Superfast or something like that but it was the same 800mbps speed. Maybe that's how i got it.

Update: Because I see this deal has reached FP, I noticed the FP bulletpoint stated this offer was for unlimited data. This is not entirely accurate for all situations at the current price point. I've notified a moderator to see if they can get that fixed. But for now, I'll update my post about this.
I'm seeing $20 for xFi complete add-on instead of $10. Do I have to do something special to get the lower price? or did they change the structure already?
Thanks!

I did the similar thing, so when I log in now, I can see two accounts. The weird thing is that I got an email yesterday saying my current service will be cancelled today, and then I got another email today saying my current service will be cancelled two weeks later. I haven't activated my new account yet because I'm waiting for the xFi modem (I don't have my own modem).

Anybody have experience with not getting the xFI initially and then getting it later if needed? I've got all the equipment and setup I need so I was not thinking to get it initially. Convince me otherwise if you'd like.

My experience with xFinity was horrible. Their techs are awesome, but their service is garbage. I moved into a new apartment and thought I'd give them a try because I dislike Verizon as a company (even though their service is stellar). I bought my own router (yes, it was compatible with their gig service that I ordered), they installed everything, and after the guy was done, everything was fine, I was getting the advertised speeds.

Fast forward to coming home from work and I'm not getting even 1/10 of the advertised speed. Reboot everything, blah blah, nothing. Still getting <100mb. Call their support, they do whatever they do on their end with no result and end up dispatching another tech. He comes out the next morning does whatever he needs to do and says the problem is outside of my apartment and that they'll need to come out and service whatever equipment might be causing the issue and that I'll get notified when they are done. Some time in the afternoon I get a text saying it's all good.

I come home from work hoping that they actually fixed it, and nope. Same thing. Still getting <100mb on the 1gig service. Call support again. Again the whole thing repeats and they say they'll send the tech out again. Told them not to bother, made an appointment with Verizon a few days out, they came out, set it up, and I'm getting the speeds I'm paying for. Cancelled xFinity the same day. They gave me the $50 credit for the installation to my account...which wtf is the point if I don't have service with them anymore?

As a side note, their support people...they take the whole "make your customer feel valued" or whatever way overboard. Every time I finished a sentence they said "thank you very much for that information". Every. Single. Time. No matter what I said.

Just my experience with xFinity, take it for what it's worth.
