My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Must sign up for Xfinity Mobile and activate a new line within 90 days of order and maintain the line to receive $10 mobile discount for 24 months. Discount applied to Internet bill and will appear on statement within 30 days of Xfinity Mobile line activation. If Xfinity Mobile is cancelled or Internet service is changed to a tier lower than Fast Internet service, the $10 multi-product discount will be removed. Must add Unlimited Data to one Xfinity Mobile line within 90 days of order to receive an additional $10 monthly discount for 24 months.

Model number?
its the XB3, and Arris older device. Doesn't support faster than 50mbps upload, so not good. I got one too, am going to try to get an XB6 or XB7. right now is is a S___show, as they think my service is out, so no one will talk to me. I'm not happy with CS.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank denverguy22

Just be aware this is a bait and switch: every ad for the 200Mbps plan shows the xFi Gateway (Wifi 6, White), but what you actually get is the ancient XB3 (Wifi 5, Black). They also advertised upgraded upload speeds with xFi Complete, but according to customer service, that is also not true.

It's a bit confusing. The majority are signing up for the $25 plan with details below. If you are an existing customer, the "deals" that come up all include the xfinity mobile discount you're referring to but the $25 promo does not.

$72/month for 200 Mbps is a joke to begin with and then offering it at the actual intended price of $25/month. I would appreciate if companies like Xfinity stop this BS and just offer a straight price that is customer friendly and is competitive for the market.

It's actually $45 a month if you are not an Xfinity mobile customer. Keep reading the fine print. It's a $10 discount for having xfinity mobile and another $10 discount for having an unlimited data plan on that mobile line. How does this thread have 600+ comments and nobody has noticed that?
Or, maybe you can question the odds that 600+ comments are all wrong and that you are the only one who got it right? I can tell you that it is indeed $25/mo. Xfinity mobile is not required. Just go through the sign up process, and you'll be able to confirm that. My billing statement also shows $25. You only need $10 discount from auto pay via bank account to keep it at $25.

I do this yearly using my and my wife's names, alternating. I make a new Gmail account and self install with my own hardware. Going on year 5 with new customer promo. When I sign up it auto cancels my previous account.
Is there a gap in service? I am trying this today and I use my own modem and chose self install. I see they immediately canceled my account. Will I need to do anything or will it switch over with no intervention?

You need to edit your post about the unlocked upload speed. It's hyper YMMV depending on your region. But your post is making it sound like it's guaranteed, misleading a ton of people in this thread, especially because the post is on the very first page of this thread.
At least add that it's YMMV.

Do they give a better modem for the xFi Complete upgrade? It looks like some people on this thread get the XB6

$72 is cheaper than I pay for Spectrum. As soon as we get an alternative, the price will go down.

Currently, in most regions, XB3 is the default modem they send out for speed tiers that are 300Mbps or lower. If they send you the XB3, it also means that you aren't getting the upgraded upload speeds.

In "SOME" regions (mostly some parts of North East US where mid-split upgrades have been rolled out), XB6 is the default modem for anything faster than 100Mbps, and you do get the upgraded upload speeds.

One way to make an "educated guess" as to whether your area has the mid-split upgrade (and thus faster upload) is to check if the "GIGABIT x2" plan is available for your address.

If the fastest Internet plan for your address is only the "GIGABIT extra," then it's likely that your area doesn't have faster upload speeds yet.

What exactly you need to tell them to turn off the equipment??
Appreciate your help!!!
When you tell rentention to cancel your services, you have to specifically tell them to off the equipment immediately. Typically, when they cancel services they leave the equipment active and its deactivated when you return the equipment. Its having active equipment seriel numbers at that address that prevents sales from giving you new services. New customer sales can reactivate the equipment so dont worry about that.

I got this for my folks who were perfectly happy with 75Mbps. I opted out of the Xfinity equipment cause they already have a good router and the less Xfinity tentacles, the better. Now I just have to upgrade their old but reliable SB6121 modem with something that can get the full 200+ speeds.
