My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Received shipping email this morning.
Logged into my account this evening and I can see that the modem they are sending me is an XB3 CISCO DPC3941T, which has the infamous puma 6 chipset.
Others in this thread have reported receiving XB3 Arris TG1682G, which also has the puma 6 chipset.
Sigh, not very happy about this.

To check which modem you are receiving,
1) Wait a few hours after getting your shipping email
2) Log into your xfinity account (on desktop browser, I haven't tried mobile)
3) Internet -> View Usage
Alternative 3) Go directly to this link: customer.xfinity.com/#/devices#usage

These are the states WITH the 1.2 data cap. If you're not on the list, you will have unlimited data....

Xfinity Internet customers in the following locations have the 1.2 Terabyte Data Internet Usage Plan:

Alabama
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Florida
Georgia
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
New Mexico
Ohio
Oregon
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Washington
Wisconsin
Pennsylvania most certainly does have the 1.2 TB cap. At least in northeastern PA we do.

How did you handle the Mobile Account transfer if you had one linked to your old account?
You can give them a call to associate with new account and see if they will waive the fee if it charges the $25/line

I was able to downgrade my service to the 75Mbps plan from 400Mbps through the website but it's not allowing me to upgrade immediately to the 200Mbps for $25/$35, at least not yet anyway. I'll give it a day or two and then call customer service to see if I can upgrade to this deal.

Try to power recycle. Unplug power, wait 5 minutes, plug power back in. Check your speed and see if you'll only get around 75MB or so. If you do, then try upgrading to the 200MB plan. You might have to re-activate your modem thru the Xfinity app by putting in the 12 digit/letters MAC ID.

Good Luck!

This would be great if it also offered more than 10 mbps upload speed, didn't require modem resets periodically, and didn't automatically sign you up for a new 2-year term contract at the end. Speaking from experience, I don't take them at their word that this is a service you can end penalty-free at any time.
"automatically sign you up for a new 2-year term contract at the end"
where did you see it?

This seems to suck compared to Spectrum's $49 plan (only $39 in some targeted ethnic markets). You get 500Mbps Internet for two years. I forget if there's a cap, but if there is, it's certainly higher than this one, and unlike this plan, you're not charged overage. They'll simply lower your speed limit. But I don't think there's any limit. And unlike Xfinity, after the 2 years, the regular price is just $69.

More importantly, you also get a FREE unlimited 5G cellular plan for one year. That's like a $40 value in itself.

I don't see how this Xfinity plan can compete with the heavily promoted Spectrum deal, since most people also have a cellular line. They'll even pay you you switch.

Went with the xFi Complete, got the XB3 Gateway. I've gone over data 3 times in the past 12 mo so for me the unlimited data is most important to me. Gonna hook it up later and see what happens.

Current xfinity customer here. If I cancel my service and then sign up for the $25 plan the same day should I be fine?

All these service providers are the same. Xfinity is another piece of shit. Just be aware that they've locked everything on their gateway. The default DNS is Comcast DNS and you can't change it. You can turn on the bridge mode and use your own Router but it's not very straight forward thing to do. Check out this video if you're planning to use bridge mode.

Thanks for the video. That guy and I feel exactly the same about Comcast!
