My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Is there a gap in service? I am trying this today and I use my own modem and chose self install. I see they immediately canceled my account. Will I need to do anything or will it switch over with no intervention?
My gap was a few hours overnight. I woke up with no service, then immediately activated

I do this yearly using my and my wife's names, alternating. I make a new Gmail account and self install with my own hardware. Going on year 5 with new customer promo. When I sign up it auto cancels my previous account.
Curious, do you have service interruption between when you sign up and until you get some kind of welcome pack from them? Interested in doing this but would like to minimize downtime.

edit: lol just saw the reply above

Yes, I get a bubble mailer with a coax cable that says Comcast. I probably have 7 of them unused at the moment.

It's a bit confusing. The majority are signing up for the $25 plan with details below. If you are an existing customer, the "deals" that come up all include the xfinity mobile discount you're referring to but the $25 promo does not.
You're right. After simulating a check out, seems like the mobile discount is just an optional additional discount you qualify for if you sign up for mobile. $10 if you do any plan, and an additional $10 off if you pick an unlimited plan. overall, a decent deal for 2 years.

Any one happen to know what the provisioned upload speeds are for the 200 mbps plan?

4K Streaming TV Box + Voice Remote

$0.00/mo
He's partially right. If you add the streaming only $10/month service (plus $22.50 for local broadcast fee...don't get me started on that), the box will also automatically convert into a paid X1 box at $9/mo. They did this to me when I had an internet-only account, and only wanted streaming TV service. Their stupid flex box is a power-hungry heater that is always on and always running hot. Didn't want hundreds of watts a day going down the drain for something I rarely use, especially with Amazon Fire sticks are so cheap and also compatible with Xfinity streaming TV. After a year and a couple service calls where they said I couldn't cancel the box without cancelling the TV, they updated their services to have a "streaming only" option for the local channels service that allowed me to return the box.

FWIW, I "cut the cord" on cable TV 12 years ago and used antennas for all the local stations (fun fact: you can "blend" your TV and Internet signals using a 2-to-1 splitter in "reverse" and send it throughout your house using the existing cable wiring). Moved a few years ago to a place with a 700+ feet mountain just a mile away between me and the direction of the major stations antenna for my area. Not getting a signal through that. Only other antenna I can pick up, quite well in fact, only has a handful of foreign language stations and shopping channels. Amazing how shopping channels ALWAYS seem to come through broadcast TV no matter where you are.

I have 4 months on my contract. Early termination fee is $40 for me. So, fellow SDers, what is the best course of action fo me?

1. Cancel the service with ETF, and then let me wife open an account with this promotion?

2. Let me wife open a new account with this promo, and then cancel mine?

I am using my own modem-router. Just want to know the best way forward. The promo is available for my address. And the xfinity support/retention department was no help.

Picked up modem with xFi complete package and they gave me XB3. Speeds in West palm beach in Florida at 200/10. Not happy with that. I was expecting more than 10 for the upload. Called CS and they said they don't provide XB6 for slower tiers.

I'm curious, I just got this deal. The new flex box is small than the one I'm replacing. Is the new one an energy hog also?

Somewhere in this thread, someone said that you can sign up for auto draft from your checking account, but I think, that you can pay with a credit card without penalty? Can anyone verify this?

Same, and I am in Illinois, and they sent a very old used XB3. Which is an Arris TG1682G.

I specifically got the $10 more than unlimited for better uploads cuz I have TMHI already but since it's good to have and price was good..thot I'd take advantage.

now I am tempted to try buying a used XB 6 7 or 8 off ebay just to see if my speeds (upload) are better than the default crappy 10Mbps.

download speeds are good 220 ish. however idk why the Asus Ac68U I have behind the XB3 only gets 100 Mbps..tho.. the same when being used with TMhi gets good speeds 200 300+ so IDk. If this gateway is shit.
Will you still get the unlimited if you use a different box than the one they supply?

According to them, no, and I am not sure it's easy to test it in a day. I will probably never exceed the 1.2TB I mainly got this as a backup line. But $10 is a no brainer it usually costs 30$ or 25 I think.

I got this deal; it was a headache until I succumbed and picked up a new modem.

Called to cancel. Guy told me that he can't give me deal over the phone, but he could cancel me immediately, and then I can resubscribe for the $25 immediately.

I did that.

Was on hold for 2+ hours with multiple techs trying to get service back to my older Motorola 6141 modem; for whatever reason, it didn't like that I had service turned off and on same day.
While on hold, I drove to Xfinity store, picked up a new modem (which comes with the package), went back home, plugged it in, and it worked great.

TLDR: Existing customers can get this; just cancel, resubscribe online immediately, and go get a new modem immediately to avoid headaches.

Thanks for the video. That guy and I feel exactly the same about Comcast!
I didn't see the video. I tried entering bridge mode after successfully getting the Xb3 up and running. BTW, my router's Wi-Fi seemed to be working fine at that point. When I tried to enter bridge mode, nothing worked after that. I tried switching back, that didn't work. I unplugged the Xb3, and it wasn't booting up. I reset the Xb3, that didn't work. I tried using my old modem, that didn't work. I reset Xb3 again, and while waiting for it, I started on a chat session. Luckily, right before chat made me mess with hardware again I noticed that my Wi-Fi on the original router was running. Somehow the Xb3 had entered bridge mode during this, and I was able to go to bed a little more than 2 hours after my hoped for bedtime. I was still amped up from the previous, so another hour or so to get to sleep. I had an early wake-up time, which felt even earlier because of recent daylight savings time change. Bottom line, it could be not totally straight forward. I definitely should have given Xb3 more time after trying to enter bridge mode. That may have been the problem. The Xb3 is so slow, so all of the steps took longer than I expected. But, it's done!

I'm a current customer renting their XB7 modem. If I sign up for this deal, which may include canceling current service and creating new account, will I have to return this modem or can I continue using/renting this modem for this deal?
