My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Anyone here get the Flex streaming box? What additional features/channels does the Flex have that the Amazon Fire stick doesn't? I can stream the free Peacock subscription through the Firestick.
Take it, it's free, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Just don't break it or lose it because you need to return it when you cancel your service.

bah they want $39 for "self install plus" which involves a technician coming out and in what way is that self install... really makes this too annoying
This depends on your address having had Xfinity before or not..I had a friend had it for his house. I had 0 self install$ so it's not they are doing this on purpose.

yeah I have had Comcast service years ago before they branded everything as Xfinity then gave up when it was too much effort to call every year and threaten cancellation. supposedly a fiber provider is finishing up in the next few months anyway so I'll probably just wait.

My friend had to pay 39$ too he had Xfinity 14 years ago was comcast cable I think. But yeah he had no idea or knew where the comcast.cable was so the tech did need to check the terminations etc. If the address has had Xfinity internet in last 4 to 5nyears I think self install should show for $0.

The terms clearly say only 5 dollar discount for auto pay by card, 10 for auto pay by bank
OK? I wasn't refuting that at all.

just ordered it.. funny how they want to charge me for shipping, but didn't charge my mom for shipping (I signed her up yesterday)... whatever,, guess I'll get off my ass and pick it up in an hour. I hope they give me a newer modem and some dirty ass old one.

then,, time to compare it to my very fast and stable, but $50, TMobile internet.

What a hassle. Signed up with the same xfinity account, and got shipped the equipment. Maybe took too long to activate but the new account got marked disconnected and disappeared from the xfinity account. Had to call, ignored on a Sunday. Called yesterday, got to cancelations and he was whining about the "new customer only" bs and "only online promo i cant access it". Had to sign up for a 2nd new account while on the phone, he canceled the self install delivery so I could just use the ones they sent the 1st new account, and canceled the original account while on the phone. Said he activated the equipment on new account but still had to self activate it all on the app.

At this point I should be good, he gave a credit for the prorated amount on the old account but damn. Typical Comcast.

Oh AND they sent a 7 year old manufactured date, used, paint stained cisco XB3 because of the speeds. Ugh. No shiny white tower. But an up dated flex.

FYI those free flex gonna get charged in June irrc
So they will starting charging for Flex in June? I thought Peacock ends in June but Flex is still free.

I currently have Frontier internet. Would love to jump on this but I wonder what I need to do to switch. Will I have to order installation service from XFinity?

I'm just not clear how the gateway will get the internet. Right now as far as I understand, I have Frontier's fiber optic cable coming to the house. Then they have a MoCA adapter that transmits the internet over coax inside the house. One of the coax outputs goes into another MoCA device to transform back to the Ethernet and that goes into WiFi mesh router.

So if I switch from Frontier to XFinity, will they use another way to get the internet into coax inside the house?

This a great deal. If 200mps speed meets your needs, you're hardly concerned about the cap. (I have 1,200mbps plan and never come close to going over guys)
