My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Has anyone managed to get xfinity to swap their xb3 for xb6 or xb7?

As a former Comcast user, good to see they're being forced to compete on price again. LOL @ $88/mo in two years though. Set alarms on your phones/personal assistant devices to cancel in 23 months now.

Personally I willingly pay more to avoid putting money in Comcast's pockets but know that not everyone has that luxury.

So what do people reckon is the best way to get to sign up if you're an existing customer with their own modem. My current 2-yr plan for 1200mbps service is up in May but I want to downgrade now to something cheaper, either the 200@$25/mo or 400@$45/mo.

1) Sign up for new service with another member of the household then have them auto-cancel the old one?

2) Cancel the existing service and then sign up for new service?

3) Talk to a rep and see if they can change my service and honor the new service rate (if I try to change it online myself it's more)

Thanks!

I used the same name, address and phone number but a different email address to create a whole new account. That allowed me to get the deal to show. Once I completed the order it sent me a cancelation email for my "old" account.

The only downside was as soon as they scanned the gateway at the local Xfinity store it deactivated my devices from my account and made activating my service a bit of a challenge.

Thanks for the advice! I take it you went with the xFi Complete for the unlimited data cap? I have my own modem and trust that more than Comcast hardware but while we typically hover around 900gb of data a month (only going over once), the unlimited is tempting for just $10 more.

No. I rarely go anywhere near the cap even with streaming TV shows most nights for 4-8 hours and gaming for 2-3 a night. The only thing that may push me towards it faster is if I went digital for more games or those games have massive patches.

I should bump it up to the unlimited for the extra $10 just in case I do go over.

I'm in on the $35 uncapped. Cancelled the triple play in my wife's name that had crept up to $230/mo, including HBO and modem rental. Will add on YouTube TV and save more than 50%. I'm embarrassed it took me so long.
just so you know - Youtube tv is going from $64.99 to 72.99 (+tax depending on your state I think)...when I signed up for YT tv back in 2020 it was 'only' $49.00

I ordered with the self install kit. However, someone from Xfinity will need to run a cable from the box on the street to my house. How do they handle this - can anybody with similar experience comment?

Why am I paying for 800mbs but only getting around 200? If I downgrade to 200, will i get less?
Can't tell if joking, but I'm taking the bait...

Are you getting 200mbps wired or wireless? If getting 200mbps on wireless, verify actual speed with wired connection.

What is the model # of your modem? If you aren't using xfinity gateway and are using an older modem, it may not be capable of the speeds in the package you're paying for. SB6121 would get under 200mbps, SB6190 should hit closer to 800mbps

Do you also have the modem connected to your own router? I have an Asus Blue cave that randomly capped speeds at 100mbps, wired and wireless. Factory reset didn't fix it. Guessing firmware or hardware issue of the router itself.

If all that stuff looks good, sue xfinity for false advertisement and let us know how it goes.

I think you needed the one where they installed it for you. But at this point, you'll have to contact them to schedule someone to go run the cable.

How many days or weeks is the downtime when you swap names & accounts? Trying to figure out how long I'll be without internet since the kids have school.
There should not be any downtime… place the new order and once you get the equipment contact support and confirm cancellation of current service which will get stopped by midnight in a week or two. Plug in the new equipment and activate.

My assumption wss that the self-install was for anything I would do inside the house and if there was a cable to be run, that they would do that (as separate from the "install", I was seeing that as "enable cable service" and not at any expense to me).

Guess I will find out when I call them.

How often do these deals happen? I have a contract on comcast business until September, wonder if there will be another deal like this one further down the road, or do I need to jump on this one so that to not miss the boat
