My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

I have an existing account, yet still was able to sign up again. Same name, same address, just clicked the SD link above and went from there. They canceled my old account, re-registered my own modem and Bob's your uncle!

Did you ask them about it?
I remember 5 years ago, the xb3 rental had battery inside.
Because we don't want they would charge for missing battery when we return the xb3.
A long time ago when I looked into it, the policy was no battery unless you had phone service. They provide the battery so if the electricity goes out you can still use the phone (maybe government mandated to be able to reach emergency services?). But they are under no obligation to do so for just Internet/TV service.

Things could be different nowadays, though. Could also be something that's YMMV based on local/regional regulations.

I didn't call or chat with anyone. Just hit the "Shop Now" button on the linked page and entered my address. I've had Xfinity for 9 years, and nobody even asked a question.

I'm currently on the 400mb plan and am planing on switching. I do have the xFi already from my current plan. If I create a new account like discussed here will I need to return my current xFi and get a new one or is there a way I can keep my current one?

Can anyone explain how to get this to work if you are an existing customer, and don't have a roommate or wife name to use? Every time I go through and when I get to the last page, it boots me out to the home page. Tried incognito mode, cleared cookies, but nothing works.

Please explain step by step as if I am an idiot, which I probably am. When I call them they just tell me the offer is for new customers only.

BTW, am on Windows 10, and use Chrome (or Firefox).

$10 Amazon gift card for someone who helps me to get it to work.

If you're getting their modem then you'll get a 2nd cancellation email pushing the end date out to 2 weeks once they ship the new device -- your old service will keep working past midnight
Not if you go to the store and get them to give you the gateway before the other one ships.

I did that and when I got home my old service was off due to them attaching the new one to my account.

Which reminds me that I have to return the one they shipped before they ding me a $15 rental fee for the second one.

Step 1: Sign up for a new account using the same name, address and phone number but use a different email address.

That's really it aside from activation of the gateway they ship you. The only issue that may arise is if you have their mobile service since thar would still be linked to the old account. In thar instance you'd need to call Xfinity Mobile and have that transferred to the new account.

Seeking anyone with knowledge on best execution on this for a current customer suffering from increased prices due to bill creep! Is it possible to create a new account at same address? T.I.A. for any guidance or determination one way or the other. Smilie
Comcast has made it so hard. A few ways. Try to annoy the loyalty department call 3-4 times. (They're now trained to not budge). Second , If you're not in contract with them. Cancel your service. Your current service as long as there's no contract that means fees, let it sit for one to three days and then try. Third, switch it to another person's name. Hope it works. I canceled my dad's service for a week when I saw this advertisement and then I added service
